gudbranson has been certainly more brutal, so i can’t claim that provorov has been the worst of the corp. however, gudbranson has contributed to reducing the danger of opposing chances. but he’s much worse on the offensive end than provorov.
peeke holds the offense back pretty dramatically but has been so solid as a defender and you can flipflop that for blanks. jiricek is just good, bean is solid, and werenski is kinda werenski again. boqvist really cranked the offense in his time here and im excited for him to return.
the percents represent how much better or worse the blue jackets are in each stat with the player ON compared to with them OFF. all comparisons are 5v5 hockey only and are specific to the games each player played in. so you’d read it as:
“the blue jackets generate 10% more fenwick attempts and 13% more expected goals per minute with werenski on than with werenski off.”
“the blue jackets allow 9% fewer fenwick attempts but 4% more expected goals with provorov on than off, meaning the fewer attempts carry higher danger.”

This like saying Provorov is the shortest of the midgets. If they replaced his minutes with Jiricek or Blankenburg, their record would be pretty much the same.
This is just a poorly run franchise.

Provorov and Severson were bad panic moves by the front office. But our pipeline of young talent sure looks good.

Stats like this need to be analyzed further with zone starts, strength of competition and quality of linemates.
