Special teams fail the Oilers versus the Islanders | Oilersnation Everyday with Tyler Yaremchuk

The Edmonton Oilers lost their third game in a row last night, dropping a 3-1 decision versus the New York Islanders.

Edmonton took the lead on the team’s first shot of the game from Leon Draisaitl, which was only his second 5-on-5 goal in his last 15 games. Unfortunately, the Oilers couldn’t build from that moment but did go into the first intermission with a one-goal lead. Going into the game, they had a 10-1-1 in games where they lead after one; however, that wouldn’t be the case last night.

Three goals from the Islanders in the second were the nail in the coffin for Edmonton. Andres Lee scored the first on the powerplay, shortly followed by another man-advantage goal from Bo Horvat, who extended his point streak to 11. The scoring was finished off shorthanded by Simon Holmstrom.

It wasn’t pretty by the Oilers, but it was not all doom and gloom.

To help you all recover and vent from last night’s loss, Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin go live at noon for Oilersnation every day on the Oilersnation YouTube channel. If you have questions, comments and concerns about this team, which should be a few, head to the Finning/CAT YouTube live chat during the show and leave your thoughts there.

Towards the end of the show, Liam has his Guess The Oiler game ready to go, which allows you to win some Nation Gear. Also, Liam may have an added twist to test Tyler’s knowledge.
