  1. I liked Fotiu because not only was he tough as hell, as this and many other examples show, but he wasn't a bully or punk. He never looked for a fight, and was a straight up New York guy who wasn't afraid of anyone.

  2. Philly regularly got their asses kicked by the great Islander teams when they hit their championship form.

  3. Dave the Hammer Schulz said in his book that there was only 1 fighter that scared him : Fotiu

  4. Here is some Behn Wilson trivia for you .

In the 1978 Draft, three Kingston Canadiens were drafted in the first round, back to back to back!

The Colorado Rockies took the first Kingston alum, fifth overall, and it failed with Mike Gillis (who?).

Then Behn Wilson was taken 6th overall by the evil Flyers then Ken Linesman was taken 7th overall by the evil Flyers.

  5. Fotiu was an NY Golden Gloves winner before he became a hockey player. Wilson was a bigger and stronger, but I think Nick's technique was the difference here.

  6. What a joke fotiu holding on for dear life then watching his head bounce up and down from uppercuts Wilson landing. Fotiu lands glance blowing when broke apart Wilson tries to go after fotiu and fotiu saying no way.

  7. If I were an enforcer back in the 70’s , Nick would of been one guy I would not even consider fighting.. he was Mike Tyson on skates- dangerous- especially if he connected …no thanks

  8. Just found this. As a 15 year old high school goalie, “helping” out with a kids hockey camp, Nick was one of the Pros that was working with Steve Rooney and Cleon Daskalaskis. Steve Rooney wouldn’t fully unload on me as I foolishly asked, but Nick did. Good Christ what a fucking shot. Took my leg out from under me, he skated by laughing and shrugged. The summer of 1983, I’ll never forget it.

  9. Fotiou clearly won by points, but didn’t knock Wilson down, out, no blood, nothing. So please stop saying Wilson got his ass kicked or was afraid of Nicky. Wilson fought all the toughest of the era, unlike many. Never once did Gillies take on Nickey and he was as tough as they come

  10. And both of them spent their time in the box hoping they wouldn't have to mess with Gillies.

  11. The Flyers used to intimidate the Rangers in the mid 70s. Nicky ended that all by himself. Nicky is forever a Ranger hero.
