Keep only if he is willing to accept $2.5- 3 million and max 2 years term. Otherwise, HuGo needs to trade him at trade deadline time and get a top A prospect. As much as we like him it does not make good business sense to keep him. There are other experienced vets on team to transition the youth in the rebuild process.
The decision is Monahans', if he wants to try to win a cup before he has to quit, Hughes will do that, but if he wants to stay, we'll sign him for sure. If we can trade him for a 21 y/o checker with size & speed, that would be great especially if we can trade a D-man to strengthen our choice of prospect. I just really love the guy's play, so I hope he wants to stick around as a core player. Good vid Coach!

Both. Trade him at the deadline AND try to resign him in FA. 3×3.5 is fair, but I would look at 2 years.
Keep him…we need veteran with heart and he has heart.
Sean is a valuable player, but in the back of my mind I remember how easily he seems to get hurt. I'd say trade him if the price is right. (LOL)
He will have 5 millions/years minimum…. look a player at 25 goal/year what is the value?
Trade, no brainer, you'll get a first or a good prospect. The habs are still 2 years away. Other vets will be moved as well.
The Canadiens have a chance to make the playoffs this season and Monahan has contributed to that success. The big question is, if they did decide to trade him, what would they get in return?
Probably not too much and definitely not enough! I would be more inclined to keep him!
The Canadiens seem to be a pretty tight team, a trade of Monahan might disrupt that feeling of team closeness by the players! That team unity is extremely important, especially with such a young team as the Canadiens are!
The only reason for any trades I see is having the three goalies! The players know this and probably are expecting a move of either Allen or Primo! If the Canadiens are hoping to make the playoffs, keeping Allen would be the choice!
I hate NHL rules that force decisions of having to trade a player! Primo will be a good goalie in the future and having to trade him because of an inane rule isn't fair!

I share you concerns about his foot speed but Ok taking the risk at 3.5…I’m also a little concerned with how good he’s been defensively at points this year.
Coach it's not been only a couple of years of injuries, it's many years of injuries. This is the contract year and he's playing up to his potential. Best if you can get a great pick or pay him above grade for a one year contract. Don't let him walk for nothing.
Monahan has been healthy for half a season…thats all …trade him and keep building the team ..sell off vets and finish in the bottom 7… If we don't get one or two more decent picks, we will be mediocre for another 10 years
Keep if u can….maybe 2 more year if u can…no one on the team understand high hockey i,q like monahan not even susuki…he knows what a great hockey play is all about…but then again hughes is a genius
Honestly i think the Habs should extend Sean Monahan for 3 more years at atleast 3.5m per year. he has earned it with his leadership. The Habs have ton of other assets we can trade for picks.
I would trade him but my price would be high. A 1st round pick + a grade A prospect. I like Monaghan a lot though and would to try to re-sign him in the summer
