In their last game before the holiday break, the Penguins travelled to Ottawa to take on the Senators. Chychrun got things started for the home team, but Lars Eller’s sharp-angle shot on the power play tied things up, 1-1, with just over five minutes remaining in the opening period. However, 30 seconds later, Norris batted in a puck out of midair and into the net, giving the Senators the advantage once again. In the 2nd period, Tkachuk scored just over two minutes in, extending Ottawa’s lead to 3-1. Rickard Rakell then earned his first goal of the season just under three minutes later to cut the Senators’ lead to 3-2. Brannstrom, however, tallied for Ottawa, meaning that the Penguins would trail, 4-2, heading into the final 20 minutes. Shortly after the puck dropped, Drew O’Connor tipped home a shot from Marcus Pettersson to put the Penguins within one. With under three minutes left in regulation, Kris Letang blasted one home for his third tally of the season to send the game to overtime. In the extra frame, the Penguins would have chances, but it would ultimately be Stützle who would end the game, 5-4 in overtime.

Tough L get them next time
Good game. We needed this.
Take EK off the power play completely. I can't wait for Rust to come back. Tanger, you're incredible. I love EK too but he just seems lost out there.
DO THEY REALIZE THEY DO NOT HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THEY'RE DOWN TO START TRYING EVERY GAME. EACH TEAM HAS THE SAME SIXTY MINUTES AND YOU CAN SCORE ANY TIME. MAYBE THEY'RE CONFUSED
I've never seen Peterson move so good freed Letang up! Bang. About time!
We had a good run
Mason Rudolph made this loss a little less painful. Atleast one Pittsburgh team won tonight😂
Karlsson and Carter have to go, both total dead weight.
Why did we give away Fleury when he is just now playing his last year ??😭
Thought this was one of their best attempts at rallying this season, but perhaps it highlights how much they pay for errors. Could be looking at it the wrong way.
Good to see guys scoring; not so good seeing the recurring theme of giving up goals a few minutes after that.
Definitely going to be an unpopular opinion, but at least this team is battling back when they're behind. We definitely needed that extra point but at least it doesnt look like they're just giving up out there.
“Haaaaave you met Ned” 😂😂
Poweplay should be improved
They got that offside wrong. Took them 5 minutes to look at it and the freeze frame they showed was clearly offsides
