Forgot to mention Lindholm and Hanifin are both RFA’s Calgary will offer extensions to both.
What do you think of the trade rumors involving MN forwards like Zucker? Plausible?
As a flames fan I think we definitely won the trade. Hanifin is so young and he is getting so much better every season. Hamilton was often a liability in the defensive zone. Lots of turnovers and not a whole lot of defensive awareness. Hanifan has a much stronger 2-way game and is 4 years younger than dougie
Somehow Detroit will win this trade with the way this weekend has gone.
Canes won the deal Hanifin is a 2nd pair dman and is a bouwmeester type defenseman Hamilton is a potential 40 point getter on the blue-line and 6'6 and only 26. As for lindholm he and ferland are very similar to what they bring. Adam Fox is the wild card here as he as represented the U.S in the world juniors and has thrived in college going at almost a point per game pace.
Tbh, Adam fox might be the best dman in this trade. Like I'm not even kidding, he's that good.
😭😭😭
For Calgary best case scenario for next season is a wash. Unless Hamilton now being traded twice has trouble in the dressing room.
Good video. Thx for posting. Canes fan here.
Canes should have traded faulk instead hanifan was a great young d man flames win by a bit
Initially I was very upset with this deal, but after looking into it some more it really helps strengthen our forward core by getting a right shooting top 6 winger in the lineup. Assuming Calgary doesn't make anymore moves I'd run a lineup like this:
Gaudreau – Monahan – Lindholm
Bennett – Jankowski – Tkachuk
Mangiapane – Backlund – Frolik
Brouwer – Shore – Foo
Giordano – Brodie
Hanifin – Hamonic
Kulak – Andersson
Smith
Gillies
If Brodie can get anywheres near his old form back with Gio (and on his more comfortable side) I think the trade was a home run for Calgary (great for both teams though).
Ferlands stats are way misleading. Those numbers are because of gaudreau & monahan. Ferland has a good shot but shows up about every 4 games
carolina is insane next year, so much depth, necas, svech, aho, teravainen, hamilton, slavin… zykov etc.
You said Carolina loses hanafin and lindholm and get Hamilton and Svechnikov. In reality they were getting Svechnikov regardless…. just worth mentioning
Yeah we fucked up in this trade Hanifin is straight up bad and we trade our best dman for him. Wtf? Fox wasn't that needed neither was Ferland and Lindholm sas good addittion but giving away one of our best players? Yeah he made mistakes and took bad penalties but u can only imagine how much Hanifin makes them. One step backwards for Flames
Carolina won that trade.
Carolina is still a future dynasty baby
Canes will be the next NHL dynasty and it starts this year with a deep playoff run. You heard it here first.
As a Canes fan been watching Hanifin "develop" and he really hasn't which is why he got the offer he did and why when he didn't want it he was traded. Since his allstar nod he has basically been a defensive liability and not scoring enough to off-set it. Dougie seems pretty consistent at both ends of the ice so…Love Elias's game but after each year is was…"he only scored 15 goals and 40 pts?…How could that be possible?" Maybe he will shine on the first line in Calgary? Fox looks like he could be a real good prospect but still a year or two away. Ferland may not score 20 again but gives Canes some grit and muscle and if he score 12-18 that would be excellent. Right now I feel the Canes are getting the most potential.
Fox and Bean played together at the prospect camp. I'm much more excited by Fox than Ferland or Hamilton, though both serve the Canes right now in much-needed roles.
God this aged well
