  1. Anybody who thinks that hit was legal is an idiot. Wayne Simmons left his feet and leapt into Brian Dumoulin. That makes it illegal I can't stand Wayne Simmonds

  2. That's a good hockey hit. He did catch a bit of his chin but that's expected sometimes. The principal point of contact was straight in the sternum. Stayed on his feet and never chicken winged his arm at the head.

  3. Where are the enforcers ??? This NHL needs them back or we can watch Europe soccer !! That’s soft like the NHL now ! So sorry for hockey !

  4. I didn't see him leave his feet like someone commented earlier. Brutal hit but I wouldn't say dirty now if I was a Pens fan or player I may see it differently.

  5. The NHL Department of Player Safety’s thinking, according to a league source, centers around the contention that Dumoulin’s head was not the main point of contact.
the NHL Department of Player Safety determined that Simmonds targeted, and hit, Dumoulin’s clavicle. In doing so, Dumoulin’s body went one way, his head another.

That, the source said, was “a really good indicator that the head’s not the main point of contact.”
the Department of Player Safety must determine whether the head is the main point of contact, not whether a secondary force — the ice or glass, for example — did anything.

In reviewing the hit, the NHL Department of Player Safety did not believe that Simmonds hit Dumoulin late, nor did it feel that Simmonds left his skates to make the hit.

  6. On the edge. Not malicious by any means. But, he did push up through the hit, slightly leaving his feet, and hitting the head. Didnt look intentional though.

  7. The idea is not to be going for the head. Body is fine, but not the head. That is where this becomes a cheap shot. Hell, the guy even raised himself up to absorb the impact with his body, but Simmonds still goes up and gets him in the head. Regardless of whether its the shoulder, hand, stick, elbow, whatever, you can't be going for the head! This is definitely a penalty on Simmonds. And no, I am not a die-hard fan for either team…

  8. Although it was mostly clean, the shoulder to the head miiiiight land Simmons a suspension

  9. As a Flyers fan I just want to say that Flyers fans are garbage and the most classless fanbase in the league

  10. Reading so many Cryers' fans in the comments saying it was clean . You could all be NHL Refs since you are sight impaired .

  11. The feet left the ice before the contact and the first point of contact was the chin! Simmonds is not a dirty player but that hit wasn't legal!!
