Tomas Sandstrom vs Scott Stevens, Round 1 Oct 20, 1984

Rangers Capitals… Sandstrom was quite lucky this turned into a scrum quickly

  1. I remember those early years well. Scott was a wild animal. But man he was a hell of a dman. He QBed the PP, killed penalties, he played 30 minutes a game.

  2. Sandström knew how to fight. He grew up with Ulf Samuelsson in Fagersta. Fagersta had a tradition of a more aggressive Canadian style of hockey than other Swedish teams because it had Canadian Des Moroney as coach in the early 1960's and he left at long lasting legacy.

  3. Stevens became a HOF defenseman and one of the best open ice hitters ever but was never known as a great fighter. He was a mugger!
