The Capitals fall to the Flyers in the SO. Alex Ovechkin has gone 11 games without a goal

In this edition of Locked on Capitals Dan talks about the Capitals falling to the Flyers in the shootout. It was a frustrating game as they Capitals had the lead, the Flyers tied it and it went to overtime. A great game for McMichael, Protas, Matha, Wilson and Strome. Evgeny Kuznetsov and Sonny Milano were out of the game. What’s behind their absence? Alex Ovechkin has now gone 11-games without a goal. Should we be worried yet?

  1. The Flyers are definitely exceeding expectations, just like the Caps. During the Summer, if you had heard that the Cap’s PP would be in last place at this point in the season, where would you have thought they would be in the standings? At some point the PP has to heat up—and if it does, watch out Metro

  2. I’ve been a Cap’s fan since the early 90’s, and remember well the time before OV. Those fans who go back that far know exactly what he has done for this team. Are we concerned about this slump? Of course…we care about him on a deeper level than we do about other players. There’s a deep devotion we have for our captain..there’s a difference between lack of production due to laziness, and lack of production due to age. The wear and tear on his body came through years in the trenches, laying it all down on the ice for this franchise. The coaches and fans, the ones who know the deal will support him for the remainder of his time here. This is not a “what have you done for me lately” situation…it wasn’t for Gretzky, and it’s not for OV…

  3. Ovi is getting older and it affects all aspects when in a younger guy's sport. He could have a nagging injury that we don't know about, but not bad enough to keep him out of the lineup. Or he may have an equipment change, different brand or length of stick, could be anything. I am still confident he will start up at some point. I would be happy if he got 20 this year.

  4. The Hershey bears proved that they are worthy of a shot and carberry isn’t wasting time giving them opportunities.
It’s frustrating to go through as a team but is needed to mesh the best of the two teams.
It will be all good in the end!!
