“He is special. His poise, his brains, his hands, his edgework. He’s always aware of where opportunities are. Everybody on the ice knows he’s a brilliant player & yet he continues to do brilliant things. He could be the best D-man this tournament.” – Craig Button on Lane Hutson today

I wanna hear that from someone not named Craig Button ideally.

See? Craig Button is capable at being awesome when he wants.

  4. Button has been a Hutson fan from the start, he might have said a few dumb things to merit our ire, but I do like Button’s character

I love what Lane has been doing and hope he translates into the next Cale Makar But, I never forget Button is the same man who said “Montreal won’t even win one game over Toronto” in the 2021 playoffs. It was 3-1!

What does everyone think about scouts like mckagg and boisvert saying hes basically quinn Hughes without the straight line speed? Some people say his defensive liability wont be a problem since when hes on the ice the puck will be on his stick not on the opponents. I hope he can become at least a second pairing guy who runs the PP.

I watched this game live and came away thinking Lane had a bad-mediocre game. He got hit a couple of times, beat along the boards, a couple turn-overs… he did settle in after the 1st period with good patience with the puck, good distribution on the PP, first pass. Norway played well, I’ll give them credit. I REALLY want Hutson to succeed, but I’m not even sure he was the best d-man on the ice today
