[Jennifer Morris] Having more fun looking at PuckIQ’s woodmoney feature. All Dmen with at least 300min TOI this season. Shows how Walman/Seider’s high usage against elites isn’t balanced out at all with getting time against easier opponents. #LGRW
This provides a little context to the “Mo and Wally have taken a step back” narrative, there are no easy shifts for those two
You can tell Walkman is hurting at this point. Hopefully the game off and now some rest over the holidays will help him bounce back.

These kinds of stats are kind of a feedback loop, because you could say “they’re just playing against tougher competition more than anyone”, but you can also say that they have more TOI because they are getting stuck on the ice for long shifts due to their struggles.

I want to see how this compares to last season. Their ice time is basically bang on what it was last season. I have a hard time believing that all of a sudden they’re being used much differently than they were deployed last season, and the eye test says they don’t look as tightened up as they were last year.
