Lucas Elvenes (VGK 2017 5th round pick) 2019-20 Prospect Highlights

Elvenes is a brilliant and creative playmaker who can drive an offensive line, manufacture offense out of nothing, quarterback a power play, and create and can transition move the puck efficiently with excellent passing and skating. Elvenes is always a threat with the puck on his stick and is continuing to develop his game away fro the puck. Elvenes was the Chicago Wolves’ leading scorer in 2019-20 and led the AHL in rookie scoring for the majority of the season (ending third) and the AHL’s third-highest scoring under-21 player.

Elvenes could stand to improve his lower body strength to improve his first few steps and any improvement to his shot would make him a dangerous scoring threat. He already has all of the qualities you look for in a dynamic second-line playmaker, and he’ll be a huge asset to the Knights’ future powerplay. His defensive game will need to develop before he will be counted on at the NHL level, as he doesn’t show well in puck battles and can give up on plays.

Overall, Elvenes projects to be an effective top-6 winger who provides excellent value as a 5th round pick in 2017.
