Actually it was Blues prospect Jimmy Snuggerud that snagged the hat trick for team USA. Would be a surprise if they don't make it to at least the final. Historically they tend to underperform.
Can easily see those guys ending up in Chicago but why would the Blackhawks pay anything for Petterson when heโll be a UFA in 18 months? They need the time to draft a few more players anyway so gutting their roster to get him a season earlier seems suboptimal

Nylander not going anywhere, Leafs will give him what he wants
Petterson to Chicago seems odd to me. He didn't re-up with Vancouver cause he wanted to see how the team went; and its going well. He can get good money this coming year and play for a better team now in Vancouver. In Chicago, he could get more money, but he'd be stuck losing for a handful more years.

I don't envision Pettersen in Chicago, but I can envision Nylander in Black Hawk colours. Think Leafs want to see how this season plays out, then playoffs (assuming they get in), and decide who to keep. Marner or Nylander? Very tough call, but if Marner does his usual vanishing act in the playoffs, Leafs will ask him to waive his no move clause. They can't keep both of them. Anyway, If Devils are able to land John Gibson, look out.. they will likely go on a tear, then be a scary opponent in the playoffs. Good report as always.
Why trade Nylander when you csn trade a higher value Marner. Easily get a bigger package then a dubios. If it is Chicago I can see a huge prospect haul. Reichel, Korchiniski, Moore, 1st, and Radsash. This still don't really seem enough to get Marner but those 3 main prospects are definitely top guys, maybe not superstars but that's the whole point instead of 11mil you split that within 4 players for at least 3 years.
Nylander will prob just fetch a reichel, 1st, and raddash.
99.5 percent Chicago fan made this dream trade for Pettersson from Vancouver. The only way Vancouver would trade him to Chicago would be Pettersson part of a package for home boy Bernard coming back home but highly unlikely and what does Chicago have to give back ? Nothen really so keep on dreaming kids
Chicago will shoot itself in the foot if they pay 12 or 13 million for Nylander and whatever Pettersson wants. As they will get a top 5 pick this year and Berdard will command long term and big money if he ends up putting up 40 or 50 goals in the next 3 years and by bringing guys like this in will definitely get him to 50 plus a year thus he will want more money
Me as a leafs fan would like to see William Nylander signed then get rid of Tavares and his contract in a few years. Unless leafs head office is planning on going hard for McDavid in 3 years well I can accept Willy getting dealt!!
