FanDuel make every moment more right now new customers get $150 in bonus Bets with any winning $5 money line bet that’s 150 bucks if you’re team wins visit fanduel.com locked on to get started we’ve got some new news on the Sabers today that made a lot of people
Angry with the first reaction and then there was a little bit of a uh uh a comment from Don Granado that basically was code for hey everybody don’t get mad at us because this isn’t really what you think it is but I’m still one to think
It might be what we think it is Ryan Johnson sent to Rochester we’ll discuss that coming up here on the show we will also give you the listener reaction on our group chat join up at joins sub.com loock ons saers if you want to become a sorty we’ll read through what the
Sorties had to say uh coming up in the third segment of today’s show but it was a lot of anger for sure and we’ll get to it on Ryan Johnson before we do that some other notes from practice and roster stuff that the Sabers have announced in or practiced with in the
Last couple of days Tyson Jo has cleared waivers after being waved by the sabers and he has been assigned to the Rochester Americans last year he was waved by Minnesota the Sabres picked him up now he’s down to Rochester which makes four excuse me three NHL salary players
That are down in Rochester Tyson Joost Riley Stillman and Jacob Bryson that’s almost $6 Million worth of player in the AHL that Terry Pula is signing checks for and that money I mean I wonder about this and I think we have evidence the Sabers are a team with at least a little
Bit of an internal salary cap they don’t want to be spending a ton of money until they’re good and that’s $6 million that Terry would probably like to spend on the NHL Franchise that is being spent currently in the AHL franchise that number should increase with Eric Comer
But we got to get to that I can’t believe this guy is still on the team but more on that in a moment we’ve got some line combinations from practice there was a little bit of a panic on Thursday when zus Genson was skating on the top line
With Alex tuck and Jeff Skinner it was definitely just a temporary situation for sure now we have very interesting practice stuff from Friday after Genson was on the top line he got moved back down to the fourth line Tage Thompson activated off the non-injury list after going on it with a personal reason
And Ryan Johnson sent down cleared the spot for Thompson to come back Tage was put right back in between Alex tuck and Jeff Skinner Dylan cousins with petka Quinn no surprise there middle stat still with Greenway and Benson and then Krebs with aoso in Greenway Eric Robinson was uh an extra Victor olison
Was an extra as well so Robinson and olison look like they’ll be scratches power uh was with Yoki Haru Yoki Haru back in the top six Dalene with Samuelson and Eric Johnson with Conor Clifton now before we get to Ryan Johnson very interesting adjustments to the power play I’ve told you I don’t
Think it’s a Personnel problem the Sabers power play this year I believe it’s a style problem I believe it is a it is a uh inability to cross and move around type of problem a coaching problem if you will for the Sabers power play is Matt Ellis the one to point at
That maybe the Sabers made a Personnel change on Friday to the power play Owen power was moved to the top unit with Rasmus Dalene being put down on the second unit and now I look at the two units and I don’t even know which one to
Call the top unit because the top unit finger quotes would be Alex tuck in front of the net Thompson on the left wing Skinner on the right wing middle stat in the center slot and power at the point that would be the quote unquote power play unit one power play Unit
Two Cousins in front of the net Benson in the high slot PKA on the left wing Quinn on the right wing Dalene on the back end in my opinion the better unit of five of those two is the second one that I just read cousins PKA Quinn
Dalene and Benson to me Far and Away I like I’m not even sure it’s close they don’t have the Thompson one-time but they do have the petka shot they have the Quinn shot let’s compare them one by one uh cousins versus tuck in front of the net maybe a wash Benson versus
Middle in the high slot I actually like Benson for that spot more than I like middle stat Skinner versus Quinn on the right wall for the power play Quinn blows SK uh Skinner out of the water PKA versus Thompson in the left wing Advantage Thompson but still PKA has
Been a great shot for the Sabres all year D vers power on the back end I go P I go delene so to me that other unit the second unit that I read is the better unit are the Sabers gonna operate that way I’m not sure so that’s a little look
At what we saw at practice but the big news from Friday is that Ryan Johnson has been sent to the Rochester Americans and that to me on the surface is just an embarrassing pathetic AIG disal decision by the Buffalo Sabers and one that is has been mocked since it was announced
Friday morning and I think deserves to be I think it is a decision that shows a fundamental misunderstanding from the Sabers of who their good players are and it also I think flies right in the face of something that D Granado and more so Kevin Adams Adams more so have talked
About for a couple of years now which is they don’t want to block the development of their young players when they’re ready to arrive when they’ve earned the opportunity to play in the in the NHL they will get that opportunity and that’s nice to say and it makes sense
And it also is easy to accomplish that goal when you have a hockey team with very few veteran players with a very low salary cap where guys like JJ petka Jack Quinn Dylan cousins who do they have to beat out for roster spots guys on vet minimum contracts sometimes two-way contracts
Like uh Vinnie hinoa for instance or Tobias reer you know these third fourth line guys that are almost more AHL guys than the are NHL guys but that’s who they got to beat out and okay yeah sure we’ll do that we’ll put you guys guys in
Over them and they did it what about now because if you truly believe you don’t want to block your players development and at the same time might give your team the best chance to win what about when the decision gets hard what about when you have to have a
Tough conversation with a veteran player will you be willing to do it and the answer to this point for me on the Sabers for that and this is a Kevin Adams commentary is no they don’t want to make the tough decision they don’t want to have the awkward conversation because that would
Be the conversation to be had with Eric Eric Johnson who provably has not been one of the saber’s best six defensemen this season but he’s a veteran he’s a 15-year Pro he know he’s friends with aoso and he’s been a leader in the league and oh you convinced him to come
Here and be a part of you can convinced him to spend his waning hours in the NHL with you and yeah you probably don’t want to tell him hey man we’re benching you we got you to come here we got you to come to Buffalo but we’re putting you
In the Press Box uh Conor Clifton same thing you know you paid him a little bit of money three plus million dollars per year but oftentimes has not been one of their best six defenseman but you don’t want to make the tough conversation with him either that one might be a little
Tougher because of the contract Eric comry that’s the easiest one Eric comry has no business being on this team no business he is not one of the two best golender in fact it’s argument it’s argument you could argue that it’s he’s not one of the best three golender in
The organization because Dustin tari is down in Rochester and tari has had better success with the Sabres recently than Eric comry has but you convinced comry to come here you told them you’d get a shot at a starting job and you did give that to him but you might not want
To wave him you might might not want to say goodbye it’s tough you know it’s awkward but these are the decisions that are in the best interest of the hockey team yet we don’t see them happen why because hey it’s easier to send Ryan Johnson down to Rochester right he’s a
Rookie you could tell him hey man it’s an easier conversation it’s a 22-year-old as opposed to a 35y old who’s more of an adult and you could tell the 22y old well you know we just we really want you to go down just for a little bit H your skills a little bit
And we want you to further develop in this area and you know it’s it’s a numbers game and what does the rookie do he’s a rookie he says all right sure no problem he goes down because he’s nobody better you know it’s it’s the gig it’s you’re a rookie in the National Hockey
League it’s a much easier conversation for management to have with the Ryan Johnson than it is with the Eric Johnson but it doesn’t make it the right decision and oftentimes it’s the wrong decision to me the sabes took the copout option they went for the easy option
They went for the easy conversation and they sent down a guy in Ryan Johnson who arguably has been the Sab third best defenseman all year yes he makes some mistakes he is a great skater he is a good Puck mover he has good sense he does not feel pressure
In the defensive Zone he is worthy of not just being on this roster but being in the Sab top four right now and he’s not in the top six and the only reason that I can come up with is because they’re afraid to have the conversation with a veteran
Player the same conversation now Don Granado said after practice that this is a shortterm thing and that you could even see Johnson back by the weekend and he said a good chance by the way is then because gearon will return tomorrow what I don’t understand is why
Put it off it there’s another decision if that’s true they’re at they’re at their Max right now if it is true that Johnson’s going to be back that means somebody else is leaving and what is the reason for that now I love I would love
To eat crow on this and in 12 hours the Sabers trade Victor ol off the roster and then I’ll come back on this show and tell you totally wrong that was a smart move by Kevin Adams because he knew the trade was cooking and he sent Johnson
Down he doesn’t have to lose anybody else but how could I possibly after this many months of an action believe that there’s a trade in the works as we speak I’m not I can’t buy that maybe it’s true but I don’t buy it so to me you’re just awaiting to have the
Conversation aren’t you what else are you waiting for Thompson activated looks like he’s good to go zus looks like he’s good to go what who who are you waiting for are you gonna wave Eric Robinson if they just not decided who they want to wave how could you not have decided what is
Eric Comer doing on this roster it’s a layup easy fast break layup there’s nobody chasing you from behind just put it in even if you miss you get a put back I don’t get it I don’t understand how Eric Comer is still in this roster I
I joked about this on Twitter if Eric com could survive nuclear winter I don’t get it it doesn’t make any sense to me they clearly don’t trust him enough to play him he hasn’t played since December fifth but yet he’s so valuable that you can’t lose him to waivers when by the
Way I don’t think anybody’s gon to claim him in the first place and if he does so what you’ve got guys in Rochester that just as good if not better it’s wild to me I don’t know what we’re waiting for there if Johnson’s going to be back then
That means you’re about to make a decision that you could have just made on Friday you’re just putting it off okay weird it’s unbelievable to me and if Ryan Johnson spends one game down in Rochester uh it you know I don’t know what you know not there not much more to
Say with this team I I just I don’t know how much more Angry you could get but you’re not going to show up with pitch Forks but it’s bad it’s bad no no faith right now in uh in management when they’re do when when they make moves like that no
Faith time out here when we come back a little bit more on Eric comry I can’t believe he’s still with the team and then a mailbag coming up here in the lock on Sabers podcast we are presented here on the show by sleeper it’s almost the halfway point of the NHL season and

YouTube and subscribe to the first ever National Sports 24/7 streaming Channel more on Eric comry who I’m hoping by the time you’re listening to this because maybe it happens any moment is no longer with the Buffalo Sabers Eric comry has not just to go into some of the numbers has not
Played for the Buffalo Sabers since December 5th that was 10 games ago earlier in the month Eric comry has not won a game for the Buffalo Sabers since night number two against the New York Islanders the second game of the year October 21st over two months ago
Was the last time that Eric Comer won for the Buffalo Sabers Eric comry let 10 goals in remember last year for against uh for the Buffalo Sabres in a game something that nobody ever does and you know gr Granado left it in but you left him in but you know what that
Happens Eric comry with the Buffalo Sabres in 26 games over two seasons has a 10 and4 record he has an 881 save percentage for comparison I mentioned this in the first segment Dustin tarski who is a veteran goenda sabers between 2020 and 2022 and in those two seasons Dustin
Tarski had a 901 save percentage massively better massively better than comry two saves two goals per every 100 shots more than Eric comry does comry if you want to look at some of the advanced stats on the season out of how many goal goalies have played five
Games this year we’re looking at 71 goenda above expected per 60 Minutes Eric Comer ranks 68th and the only one of the only goal tenders the only goalies behind him Dustin wolf who’s a prospect like rookie 20-year old Anton forsberg the backup in Ottawa and Jack Campbell who is not even
In the NHL anymore got wave got sent down to the AHL those are the only three goenda Jack Campbell got waved and didn’t get claimed ATI R who is only two spots above comry in Carolina got waved and didn’t get claimed so what is it why is
Comry still with the team nobody’s going to claim him and if they do I just pointed out with to so what here’s my theory it’s it’s because it’s this is my theory because I don’t know what else there could possibly be as a reason why he is still in
Buffalo here’s my hunch or just an idea that makes some sense I pointed out earlier the sabes already have three players in Rochester with NHL salaries Tyson joose now Jacob Bryson and Riley Stillman do the sabers not want to put Eric Comer down in Rochester because the owner then starts
To ask a question hey how come we’re now spending what is it four players how come we’re spending more than $7 million on four players to play for us in Rochester why why is that happening it’s more than a tenth of what we spent in the NHL Club why are we putting four
Guys down there because then the microscope starts to look at the moves well Riley Stillman you traded for and you traded you know a c minus level Prospect not much but okay you thought that was a move that would help you and he’s not even with the club so Stillman
Uh Jacob Bryson down I guess that was an investment of uh of Adams uh Tyson Jost you claimed him last year and then you resigned him but now he’s in Rochester okay what about comry you paid him to be your starting goalie last year and a year later he’s in Rochester
What’s going on questions start getting asked that has to be it I I don’t know I don’t know what else it could possibly be because it doesn’t make statistical sense it doesn’t make roster sense to have three goalies you know I I’m not I’m gonna stop saying the Sabers don’t
Want to have three goalies because Kevin Adams D ronado said it their actions say they want three goalies because there’s no other there’s no good explanation for why Eric comry is still with the Buffalo Sabers I don’t want him to keep getting ragged on he’s become a punchline he’s
Become a a player that fans resent and it’s not well I mean he’s played bad so I guess in some way it is his fault but it’s not his fault that he’s still getting dragged out here to be insulted but you know there’s a little bit of an
Element of put him out of his misery already you know he’s not look at the career he has not been an NHL comry if you look at the amount of games played in each league since he turned pro eight years ago we almost have a decade of sample size of what this guy
Is look at his career statistics he plays far more often in the AHL than he does in the NHL looking at I thought I early prospects would have it they apparently do not the career totals in each league here we go Eric comry in each league
He’s played 54 games 54 games in the NHL that’s it the guy turned Pro in 2013 2013 no excuse me they used two AHL games maybe he wasn’t a pro yet 2015 there we go 2015 he turned Pro and 54 games in the AHL here is games play in
The NHL your games played by season in the AHL starting at the beginning 3 46 51 we’re already way over over his NHL total 34 47 16 4 43 it’s way more way more games in the AHL than the NHL send them down let’s end this already timeout here in the

Do all of my portion online texting back and forth but for you it’s just like you’re texting that’s it it’s you’re on your phone it gets sent right to your number and that’s how you sign up pretty easy let’s look at some of the texts from our sorties after the Sab down Ryan
Johnson here’s one finally starting to doubt Kevin Adams uh his refusal to make tough decisions is destroying this team he’s not their friend he’s their boss who they should have some fear or of but they clearly don’t uh that could very well be true Adams is definitely
Deserving of a lot of criticism of what this season has looked like here is our second text yes it’s to the point the GM isn’t even following things he’s laid out in the media several times there’s no reason pton Krebs should still be on the fourth line no reason Johnson in the
AHL Kik should be getting more than one game but they are all blocked and I think that’s all pretty true why wasn’t pton Krebs on the top line the other night by the way Tyson J went to the Top Line didn’t want to disrupt the lines Krabs is a more offensive player and
It’s not even really all that close here’s our third text I try to save my freakouts for things that really matter or are really base sending Ryan Johnson to Rochester is one of the worst decisions in years and I don’t say that lightly his skating is other worldly
Otherworldly adds lots of Zone entries why are they not willing to tolerate his mistakes they’re not even that egregious but wanting Eric Johnson and his cinder block cinder blocks for skates it makes no sense and is breaking my brain there are the types of roster management moves
These are the types of roster management moves that keep bad teams bad I Echo pretty much all that it’s pretty much wraps it up in a bow uh one more uh so maybe a couple more here I know it looks like a paper transaction for Johnson but seriously why why not
Just wave Comer this organization isn’t serious at all that’s my question if Johnson is someone make sense for me on that maybe I’m missing something if it’s a paper transaction I don’t get it for in in the name of what it’s a transaction in the name of
What because if it’s just a paper transaction and you’re plan on playing Ryan Johnson Saturday against Columbus why what is the move you’re waiting to make and why are you waiting to make it that’s the question that we don’t have an answer to all right that should be it it’s
About it right um I don’t know comry I mean a lot of a lot of texter think Comer has something on Kevin Adams to this point you hear a lot of that from fans I don’t know um pretty bad it’s pretty bad I can’t believe the move I
Hope they’re telling the truth I hope that it’s just a paper transaction but again I just don’t understand what it could be for all right that’s going to do it for us today here on the lockdown Savers podcast hopefully we have happier things to talk about like a win over
Columbus um we’ll get more into this on our next show and by the way you might have been waiting for hottie Kash lockel prospects um we didn’t work out of time with him yet but we are getting closer to that just got to figure out our
Schedules to line up to talk more about the world juniors and some of the saber prospects Noah osland scoring against Canada on Friday pretty big goal for him so we’ll talk more prospects I want to talk more about the upcoming part of the schedule in in one of our upcoming shows
Probably our next show because the Sabers next nine games they play eight teams that are not in a playoff spot if they’re ever going to go on a run this has to be the time to do it that’ll be on our next show here in the locked on

Comrie, Olafsson, or Power should have been demoted before Johnson. When did the sabres bring back Darcy?
