It seems to be that the D needs improving as well as in net…much like the Kings last season… You can't go run and gun with Samsonov in net with no D or it's him that gets shot… The same goes for Jones… You need another Muzzin type D in the lineup…someone who could glue the D in place…

Difficult to solve at this point because Woll is injured. That Marlie goalie is putting up impressive numbers…??? For now just work with Samsonov and Jones and work on defensive positional play.

You could deal Nylander to the Caps for Darcy Kuemper and a pick. The caps have two decent goalies and is desparate for forwards that can actually score.
Darcy's stats aren't perfect, but they're a lot better than Sammy's, plus he has experience with deep playoff runs.
Make Kuemper your #1 until Woll returns, then make him your #1B or #2.

4th goal from Columbus….Watch the replay….3 Leafs behind the net. 1 Blue Jacket by himself in front of the net….THAT was a problem when Murray, Mrzek, Rittich, Campbell, Reimer ect. ect ect. were in Toronto as well….And is STILL a problem today. Pretending somehow that does not happen with Woll and Jones, or pretending those 2 are a band aid for that kind of defensive coverage is setting yourself up for more disappointment. …..Time to face facts, the problem's go far deeper then to blame the latest scape goat goalie in net.
At this point I hear Khabi is back playing overseas. Sadly might be a better option
Kaapo Kahkonen has a better save%, GAA, and the same amount of wins as samsonov while playing for the sharks 🤯. Last year of his contract at 2.75 on a rebuilding team.

There comes a time when you need to look at how the defensive aspect of the game is being coached. Colorado proved you can win with mediocre goaltending.
