  1. Je garde monahan sa prend de l'expérience au centre suzuki en a encore à apprendre et monahan peut lui enseigner et si il reste en santé il peut faire avancer notre reconstruction

  2. I've only been seeing the highlights…it looked like Fowler has let in some soft goals in regulation…maybe was left on his own by D on a couple…but agreed he was an absolute stud in the Chechia shootout.

  3. Keep Monahan, what are you going to get for him? another prospect and/or draft pick? Seems like Rinse and Repeat every season. At this rate we'll be rebuilding into the next decade if we continue down this road. Sure this year may be a write off and I'm ok with that but I'm not ok with more prospects every season. We've seen some good hockey this year but there are obvious needs. Trade for these needs/assets we can use now and next season. GHG

  4. Monahan for a 1st rounder, absolutely. I agree with you that with his injury history, and success this year, he's going to want (and get) term. I'm also on the wrong side of 30…the body just starts to break down. 😆😢

  5. Trading Monahan bring Habs 3 years back. Dach and Matheson are also injury prone. The entire team's roster has injury issues. No 1st round pick will be worth a Monahan as it will be a late 1st round pick. Habs cannot draft or develop players properly for the last 3 decades. And you want to trade Monahan? Reflect.

  6. So lets trade Sazuki and caufield and Guhle for all these 1st rnd pics. Why would you trade Monahan just to get a payer like monahan. Morons. So we trade all our valuable assets for crap shoots, which is the draft. As much as i like Slav, he's not a generational player that we need. And he was 1st overall.

  7. im a subscriber, one of your first 10k, I beg of you change your title and thumbnails. It's to clickbaity and doesn't give enough info. I know that's on purpose but you guys are good enough to treat your fans with respect. You've crossed the threshold, you're getting there, think about a quality product now, the number will come

  8. Well if you won't bring weapon X back hif you do a trade you need to get a big mean as fk power forward that will stick up for the team mates the hit on your youngest player and nobody did shit this crap is going to get people hurt if you don't stick up for your players you will get cheap shotted run at because they won't be scared plain as day.

  9. montreal has an unuque chance to draft a perfect 1 way talented center, while forming a fedorov, konstantinov kozlov like line but this time from slovaks slafkovsky, dvorsky, mesar
instead of that montreal "lets draft a totally useless austrian defenceman thaf doesn't even know how to skate properly"

  10. i LOVE Sean as a player and on this team and think both he and Montreal have benefitted greatly with him here. i would love to keep his experienced leadership around longterm and would not have a problem with him signing a long contract with The Habs. however, if the price being payed by teams wanting him is too good… we have to trade him – it will be sad day

  11. Monahan. A 4 year 3.5M would bring him past the finish line of where the Hab's fans are predicting is the rebuild result. A climbing cap, and give him sheltered minutes, addresses the money and injury issue. A veteran forward that would add team stability. It's not always black and white. Grey areas need investment to make a special team. We don't know the lockeroom dynamic. He may be a driving force as these kids grow into their own. I trust Kent. He'll do the right thing.

  12. Monahan is good, but, seems better the first 20 games then he goes down. Can't blame him though, he's not playing with good players anymore. Give him Caufield and I feel Caufield would have 12 goals by now. Suzuki passes too slow, and plays slow, at times he speeds up but, not always, it hurts the offence.

  13. I still have no clue why they didn't play Allen vs Carolina… So I feel that's a no no. But, I guess they know what Allen brings, not like he's a rookie.

  14. Monahan's value is the highest it is going to be so reap whatever they can get at the deadline when there is only like 20 games left anyway. If Habs management really likes him then they should have a conversation with him before the trade and say to him to go chase a cup this season but there isa spot here for you again next year to help bring along the younger players he seems to enjoy playing with

  15. Monahan is much more valuable as a trade asset than being part of the team long term (+3 years), that's when the team would ACTUALLY be in contention and his value would be needed most. right now it's about developing young assets we currently have and acquiring others through draft or trade. you are building a team for the future not for a short term cup run. a lot of the key parts you need for a solid core are often unattainable or at the least incredibly hard to attain. Elite forwards, elite defensemen, elite Goalies… they are often only available at the end of their career.. and if they for whatever reason ARE available say through Free agency, they often want to go to a contender not a rebuild. Drafting a archetype of a player you want, and building them up is much more fruitful. having to many prospects isn't a bad thing.. they can be traded for vets to fill out your lineup when you ARE ready for those contention years. they are often waiver exempt till they are like 23/24 anyway. so it's not like it's a waste or anything to have them develop in the system. Habs fans are just impatient. it's YEAR 2 of a assumed 5 year rebuild.

  16. Monahan is a great playmaker…better than Gallagher……..but he won't be around forever , so maybe trading him is best…but I bet he wants to stay and would take a cheaper contract !!!!

  17. For anyone who may be a regular viewer and isn't subscribed, why not consider doing it for the New Year? These guys are working their butts off to keep us updated on all sorts of timely news about our Habs. I can only imagine the dedication to take the time to produce one of these pretty much every single day. And it's a pretty cool 'open community' here. We don't always have to agree with each other about what might be best for our beloved Habs, but we can have respectful arguments and discussions in the comments. I've thoroughly enjoyed turning to Habs Digest to catch up on Habs news when I've sometimes been too busy with work/family/life to keep up on my own. Josh & Jessie don't miss much of any importance!!! 👍👏

  18. As long as the Habs are in the playoff hunt, I wouldn't trade anyone, 'cept for a goaltender or Barron or Kovy or Harris or Pearson. That's it. When you talk about creating a "winning culture', nothing achieves that more than "winning". Enduring there poor years in a row will surely piss off our captain. It's a betrayal. Don't forget that the Habs have faced injuries to some of their best players this season. Again. Newhook will be back. Dach won't. Other teams in the race could have their turn soon. The chemistry on this team is great. If they drop out of the race and if an offer for Josh Anderson is good, I would make that trade, depending on the return. I would not trade Sean Monahan, Either way. He is a center and a valuable one. His injury history may be over. We don't know. That you could said about anyone. Sign him to a fair three year deal ASAP.

  19. keep monahan he is helping the young core, lets found out what he wants ,hes 29 and plays great on the power play, which helps caufield and suzuki get even more confidence ,you will need at least a first rounder for monahan, so lets be smart .

  20. Note that both reviews state the trade costs will be minor. Hughes should only trade Allen or Monahan unless he gets a great return. Teams who are in a win now mode are justifiably willing to overpay.

  21. Jets GM drives the hardest bargain of any GM in the league. Did you not see how he fleeced the Kings in the Dubois trade? There's no way Chevy would give up much for Monahan, who's an aging player with bad injury history. Think 3rd round pick + Logan Stanley.

Remember Habs fans, you were also certain Chevy was gonna give away Dubois for Dworak and a bag of pucks. Instead he got Vilardi, Iafallo, Kupari and Habs 2024 2nd rounder. Vilardi alone made the trade worth it.

  22. I would fire all management of the Habs including St Louis and start over with a winning attitude.
St Louis has no idea what he's doing.
The team had zero shots in the last 14 minutes of the game including 2 PP…
    NO SHOTS.
    NOT ONE.
    Pure lunacy.

  23. Collect as many 1st round picks as you can! Monahan for first, done, Allen plus a young Defenseman for a first no salary retention. Either Savard or Matheson for a first or first+ something do it. Those first rounders may not be Ready in 2-3 years but they may have high trade value by then to get something to help right away. Plus you could package multiple first or first and a second to move up in the draft
