  1. Let’s trade our best bottom six player 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Are we sellers or buyers? Best face off man in the league and plays effectively. Not sure I get it but will wait and see.

  3. Saw_Doctor

Unless it’s for a good goalie or D man it’s sounds like a bad idea, and even then I am not sure that will be good in the long run.

This is the ultimate “how much do you value face offs?”

If you look at how much it will cost to re-sign McLeod and his actual point production it makes sense on paper. Not sure about in reality. Mikey is going to be getting a huge pay day this season and people fail to realize that.

Cap is only going up by 4-5 million this year and we need to sign Mercer and a lot of other RFA’s while leaving room for moves in the offseason.

That’s not even talking about the looming potential of a suspension/expulsion. Hockey Canada finished their investigation in November and the players appealed the decision. Timeline for appeal isn’t long supposedly and it’s the only thing preventing the results from being public. And it’s hard not to see players appealing a decision meaning it’s bad news.

This might fucking suck, but if we can get a prime goalie and defenseman in a combo it “might” be worth it speaking how we might not be able to afford his raise due to his play.

  5. We don’t need two McLeods and we most definitely don’t want to get rid of the one we have unless it’s a Larsson for Hall level trade IMO.

I get to get something you must give something and getting help in goal won’t be cheap. However, if this team wants to get a playoff threat McLeod is the kind of player all teams want and need. To get rid of a piece like that I don’t think would be the way to go about this. Anaheim is a team building so prospects (younger) would likely make more sense for both sides.

  7. Let’s move the one player playing above his mean. Lol

  8. himynameissteve93

Oh come on, Knicks just traded quickley yesterday I’m not tryna be sad again today

  9. BlueBeagle8

I would guess that this is a “other teams are asking for McLeod in negotiations” situation, not that the Devils are shopping him.

Regardless of your thoughts on the player, the simple fact is that our center depth is very thin — all the moreso because Haula is asked to move around the lineup for key faceoffs and defensive matchups.

Trade McLeod and you’re in a situation where Chris Tierney is getting regular ice time, and we’re a Hischier or Hughes injury from the season being over, for all intents and purposes.

Contending teams don’t subtract depth up the middle, they add it. I think this is much ado about nothing.

  10. toiletting

This makes sense if the FO is expecting McLeod to get a huge raise. They may be able to load him off for needed talent.

  11. rockthered24

This is the same guy that said the Gibson talks were heating up over a month ago. Ignore him

  12. SerPownce

Unless it’s Saros this is a mistake. Gibson would help a lot but McLeod is the hardest worker barring maybe Nico

  13. Tommydean22

This guy is never right and is a clickbait connoisseur

  14. There isn’t a legitimate reason for us to trade McLeod unless we are getting a haul back. McLeod’s a guy I’d like to sign long term

  15. Mr7three2

Let’s trade our best FO guy and a very good two way, bottom 6, penalty killer…

  16. Inevitable-Tourist18

I am only okay with this under two circumstances.

    1) He’s asking for a raise that the Devils know they absolutely will not pay. Then get some good prospects or a defenseman.

    2) They are packaging him in a trade for a goaltender.

But, in general…I’m confused by it. Unless the piece we get back makes an immediate difference it really hurts this team if he’s gone

  17. NJDevils1

… why? Unless he wants like 4m+ for a 2nd/3rd lin role, which I guess makes sense for him?

Otherwise it would make absolutely zero sense to trade him. He’s still an RFA after this year.

  18. Effinehright

Trade the best FO/defensive forward on a team that lets up tons of goals what could go wrong

  19. Fyredesigns

Why would we get rid of a hard working depth center? I always talk about how much I love watching Mikey this season. His forecheck has gotten more aggressive and he can really Kickstart a hell of a play.

I’m pretty sure it’s just teams asking about him and reporters are hyping it up.

  20. I hope this is just a rumor, or that we’re getting an absolute boatload, because to me, McLeod is no mere role player. I don’t think it’s a question that he’ll be a pretty dominant second liner before long. Otoh he’s an arb-eligible RFA. Not sure how he factors into our longterm Cap plans. And maybe this is how we get a goalie from a team that is a contender..? Idk if not it seems weird when we could just trade Mikey in the offseason if needbe.

  21. jerrygeisler

This guy puts in 110% every night, and is the best at what he does in the entire league. WTF

  22. AnnyongHermanoMD

If the Ducks want McLeod and a first, the Ducks need to retain some of Gibson’s salary and send over Henrique. The Ducks would need to take Vitek.

  23. This would be such an enormous mistake. If you have a team of super high skill players under-producing and you trade away the dude with the most visible work ethic you communicate there’s no reason to turn up the effort because it won’t be rewarded.

  24. buddyguy618

Everyone needs to relax. Lindy relies on McLeod so much. If Fitz trades him it’s gonna be worthwhile

  25. themakiexperiment

Nahhhhhh man mikey is the motor of the team. I consider him part of the core and wouldnt like to see him leave one bit
