  1. I could easily be convinced these arent the same people

I saw him Rob kuch in person game 3 kept us in it until the reilly ot goal. Hope he shakes the yips in the ahl, but man he looks like a shell of himself.

I don’t want to be critical but he wasn’t very good that series, our core won us that.

Even in the clip above you can see how out of position he is on what should be routine saves. He over commits to shots and plays and is then forced to scramble.

I want October 22 – March 23 Sammy back, that guy was something else.

  4. Samsonov in a contract year, vs. Samsonov…also playing in a contract year?

Yeah, I don’t want to be too harsh on him as he was a goalie that actually came through for us in the playoffs.

He had a similar career arc in Washington as well, 1 good year, 1 bad year but hw was very good in the playoffs for them despite the loss.

Will never forget. He did what no other goalie could for us in 20 years. Good year last year and a pretty god damn solid first round when we all knew he was battling an injury the whole time. Get well soon Sammy.

  7. feel so bad about how this has gone. I really like sammy

hopefully he can sort his head out. goalie for the leafs is one of the toughest positions in sports. maybe we need to look for the cocky asshole type rather than the good guy type for our goalies of the future? theres gotta be a reason guys like belfour (notorious prick) and cujo (dunno his rep but met him a few times and thought he was a dick) were able to survive/thrive, and guys like soupy/sammy/freddy etc havent. the TO market just rips into any shred of self doubt a goalie has

All I can say… is it feels strange that it’s happened twice now… Campbell and Samsonov.

It makes we wonder if there’s anything to the “Toronto is a tough market to play in” rhetoric.

    It’s [not the first time](https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/toronto-maple-leafs/latest-news/ryan-oreilly-feels-decision-to-leave-maple-leaf-in-free-agency-due-to-spotlight-blown-out-of-proportion#:~:text=Ryan%20O'Reilly%20Feels%20Decision%20to%20Leave%20Maple%20Leafs%20in,Predators%20as%20a%20free%20agent) it’s come up…
