GAME RECAP: Penguins vs. Islanders (12.31.23) | A Happy New Year In Pittsburgh

Finishing out the 2023 year, the Pittsburgh Penguins faced off against the New York Islanders. Lars Eller started the game off quickly with a goal only two minutes in. Jansen Harkins skated the puck wide into the zone and waited out the defender for the passing lane to open. Eller was on the backdoor to tap the puck in. The 2nd period started the same as the first, with a goal for the Penguins. Drew O’Connor skated into the zone with the puck and curled back low by the goal line a threw the puck towards the new. Noel Acciari was driving the net and redirected the puck into the back of the net. The Penguins took their 2-0 into the 3rd. Playing tough and physical hockey, the Penguins kept the pressure on the Islanders. Late in the 3rd, the Islanders broke through and got their first goal of the night. Samuel Bolduc got the lone goal for the Islanders. The Penguins finished off with an empty net by Eller. Penguins won 3-1.

  1. Wha…? Why leave in the preamble to the fisticuffs if you're not gonna show the fight? That's a highlight surely?
(Perhaps not 100% for us 😬, but he put himself out there, so big up!)

  2. A win's a great way to end the year, and hopefully carry on into the new one. Hope the captain's alright.

  3. Not saying promote fights, but if it's in the game highlights and you show the start of it, show the whole thing….
