  1. i accept this with 6 weeks without vasy. things gotta change tho. need a win streak soon

  2. Point percentage wise Bolts are far behind and teams in front have less games played.

Holding the spot by an absolute hair. There’s a few teams that have played a couple games less than us but are only a point or 2 away. Washington will have to lose 4 straight games in regulation for us to hold the lead. New Jersey and Pit will have lose 3 straight. It’s a small victory but this will not last

Except we have played 2-3 games more than teams below us, so on even games, we’d be out of the playoffs.

Leafs have 4 games in hand on us. We need to string 4-5 wins in a row regularly or else we are done this season.

We’ve reached the point where our fate is largely out of our hands. The team needs to start putting together wins and hope that the other teams around us don’t.

  7. The Capitals are 6 points above 0.500 (the top 7 teams are even more) and we’re only 3. The Penguins and Devils are 5, so effectively, we’re 11th in the conference, 3 points out of the playoffs. It’s sort of disingenuous to say we currently hold the wild card when we are definitely not on pace to get it.

That being said, right above the Capitals, there’s a four-way tie at 7 points above 0.500 between the Leafs, Islanders, Flyers, and Hurricanes. We have a game against the Leafs, three against the Islanders and Flyers, two against the Capitals, three against the Devils, one against the Penguins, and two against the Red Wings just behind us. So there are plenty of chances to gain ground. But we’re playing from behind so we can’t mess those up.

hard to see this team getting as far as 2nd in the div so i think if they make it it’ll be A3 or WC1/2

teams still have to win games in hand and considering how mid the entire league seems to be this year (outside a few standouts; boston, vegas, florida, nyr) it’s not a given. toronto is on like their 4th goalie after samsonov cost them the cbj game and their actual good goalie is out for like another month or something. if we consider them the direct competition they’re the ones with the backloaded schedule when players start getting hurt

with all that said i’d rather tangle with the metro than bos/fla, only nyr really stands out among the metro and on-paper there’s just no way the isles or caps or flyers roster is better. normally i’d say that someone’s more likely to get hurt against the isles or caps or whoever but florida’s just as physical and point and cernak and eyssy got hurt against toronto anyway.
