You could have taken a positive from whether he was taken or not. In this case, there is a small chance he gets his game together and can come back(at least in a back up role)

I mean, at least it isn’t 5M for another 3years after this one

Hope he can find himself during this stint. All the best Sammy Smiles

Can’t believe I wanted him signed for 2 years. Glad I’m not the GM

Leafs fan part of me – buh bye
Human being part of me – I feel for you Sammy, and I wish you the best

I think this is best case scenario.
Last season he showed he can be a great goalie. Something has changed – is it having a kid, getting signed for millions of dollars (imposter syndrome), the Toronto market/media getting to him?
Let him stay at home with the trainers and work on his game. Take the pressures of travel and a full Scotiabank Arena holding their breath at every shot. Give him some time to get comfortable in that system, get him into some games and hopefully get a good amount of wins under his belt before they need to bring him back up to the Leafs.
As long as Hildeby doesn’t get destroyed, they should be able to run with him and Jones until Woll gets back and then make a decision which one goes back down. Hildeby might show up and steal the net and be the difference maker. Or he might not be that special. Either way, it’s going to make the next month of games even more interesting.

I need the vibes of Sammy figuring it out and returning to us in our time of need

Sammy was the goalie that out duelled Vaselifskiy and got the Leafs to the second round. First time 19 years. I wish you well Sammy, and hope you find your game.

Cleared? You mean nobody else wanted a sub-average goalie?

The one year “show me” contract proved to be beneficial. I’d be shocked if he gets a league minimum contract after this.

The first Leafs goalie to win a series in 19 years. I really hope he figures it out and comes back to win 3 more series’
