How is this NOT goalie interference?

I’m going to do something I usually don’t do and complain about a really bad call I’m watching the Boston Bruins vers Detroit Red Wings we got ourselves a tied game in the second intermission but this second goal by Detroit sherat looks like a good goal initially right just

Rips that right past Swan but look at this stick interferes with the glove of swayan we got twidle D and twidle dum over here trying to figure it out clearly contact to his glove interferes with Swan Swan would make that save if he wasn’t interfered with so you could

Argue oh Carlo initiated contact but from every different angle raspon is the one who initiates the contact after taking 5 years to make a call they finally decided to say it was a good goal but this is ridiculous I don’t understand this one he’s the one that skated in that blue paint initiated

Contact with San rasmus’s stick was already going towards San’s glove Carlo didn’t interfere with that or cause that to happen I know this will sound whiny and complaining and who knows maybe the Bruin score five in the third or Detroit scores five and it doesn’t even matter

But I feel a call this obvious is no goal but may Maybe I’m Wrong maybe I’m just a biased Bruins fan let me know your thoughts down below you think this was goalie interference I’ll have a full breakdown after the game see you very soon

  1. What does the player being in the crease for a minuscule amount of time have to do with whether this is interference, when any interference would have happened both the player and the goalie are entirely out of the crease. His stick was going for the tip and the goalie skated into it to cut off the angle.

  2. Goals should be disallowed only if: (1) an attacking player, either by his positioning or by contact, impairs the goalkeeper’s ability to move freely within his crease or defend his goal; or (2) an attacking player initiates intentional or deliberate contact with a goalkeeper, inside or outside of his goal crease. Incidental contact with a goalkeeper will be permitted, and resulting goals allowed, when such contact is initiated outside of the goal crease, provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such contact. The rule will be enforced exclusively in accordance with the on-ice judgment of the Referee(s) but may be subject to a Coach’s Challenge (see Rule 38).

  3. If you want to see a truly horrendous call, search for Lions vs Cowboys, the refs stole the win, the Lions 1st place seed, and a bye week in round 1 of the playoffs. That’s the worst call in any sport, with an impact far greater than a win or loss that I’ve seen in a long time.

  4. They definitely blew the call. They were saying cause it was outside the blue, but it started in the blue and led out. I couldn't believe the non-call at the time. The refs in this league need to learn consistency in their calls. It's ridiculous how inconsistent they are from one game to the next.

  5. Watch a Habs game and let me know how the refs are. Literally every game theres minimum 3 missed calls against them. They honestly dont care what other teams do. Like the Slav hit. Not a call or review on that hit but then 2 games later the same hit happens to the other team and yes it was only a minor but they instantly called it a major.

  6. Later in the game DeBrusk (Bruins) was hooked and tripped a few seconds apart and not a single arm went up from any official. Luckily he scored anyways, but both were blatant non-calls.

If Marchand poked at a goalie like that it would 100% have been called interference.

You can’t stop a game for almost five minutes looking at replays and STILL get that call wrong. It’s embarrassing to have this happen at the pro sports level. And to then give two completely different explanations for why (first they said you can contact a goalie outside the crease and it’s fine, then they changed the explanation once the geniuses in Toronto came up with a revised explanation).

  7. It's not goalie interference because the goalie's glove is outside the crease, and the attacking forward is also outside the crease so he is entitled to tip the puck if it had not been for the goalie's glove. Good call.

  8. This is a good goal. You can see the movement that Carlo makes contact it moves swaymans glove.

  9. As an Oilers fan, who has seen Oilers goals called no good when there's been way less contact, this is blatant goalie interference. Stick clearly on the glove keeping the goalie from making the stop, shouldn't matter who initiated contact with the goalie

  10. For those wondering, contact in the crease is a consideration if the goalie is impeded in getting into a position by a player who is standing in that space, meaning the goalie initiates contact as he repositions himself. A player can claim space only if he’s outside the crease or doesn’t impede the goalie. If however the player initiates contact with the goalie of his own accord, the blue paint doesn’t matter. That’s goalie interference all day and embarrassing the refs don’t understand the distinction. The NHL clarified that the ruling was that Carlo influenced the contact, which is obviously not true and didn’t match the on-ice officials’ explanation. Truly atrocious

  11. I hate that goalies think they’re untouchable when they’re way out of the blue paint.
Rasmussen’s position is perfectly legal, and his stick coming into contact with Sway’s glove (because of the Bruins defender nonetheless) happens outside of the paint.
    Good goal.

  12. nah bro you're not biased in this situation, I'm a leafs fan and this call was so bad it even pissed me off lmao

  13. I would say its a 50/50…he's outside the paint and Carlo is lifting Rasmussen's stick so can see why the refs would give it to the wings.
