  1. Does anyone really care what 'centre of the universe" the 'leaves' do? they are and have been losers – and should stop focusing on Mathews – who is overrated – good at one end only and overpaid.. no wonder the other players don't GAF —

  2. Forget trading for any goal tender. Run the year with what they have. Woll will be back soon and next year they will have Murray to deal with.

  3. Halak is the only reasonable option based on the cap sitiuation. Otherwise you have to swing big and give up a ton for a Defense and goalie.
    Markstom + tanev
    Or Gibson + lybuschkin

  4. The Bruins rolled with their 2 goalies…even when they were average…but the Bruins are solid on defense..thats the difference…you put Sammy in for the Bruins and they will win every time…thats the difference…leafs have NO defense…

  5. I read the Phil Esposito book year ago when it came out….Bobby Orr was by far the best "D" man in the game….but when he went down he said the philosophy was the same…get the next best "D" in the league….that was at the time Brad Park…( so Boston felt,I would say Montreal had #'s 1,2 and 3)….so they traded for him…and who did they trade…Phil Espo…..their scorer….Boston like Montreal first thought of keeping the puck out of their net….if they only scored once that's all that was need…

  6. The whole team needs to be defensive minded like the Panthers, Bruins and the Canes (off the top of my head). Until that happens nothing gets solved. That's a coaching staff problem. Perhaps that's where the change needs to be made.

  7. Platoon Hildeby and Jones until Woll comes back. Then you'll have some facts. Right now you're trying to read the future using a cloudy Crystal Ball!

  8. “This solves the Leafs BIGGEST problem” ? That is a little bit misleading. Dumping an under achieving goalie for no goalie is not a solution. Hoping for a return from injury of someone with 26 career games or an AHL goalie with no experience is a dream, not a solution. With a weak defence, the Leafs need a Stanley Cup calibre goalie. They cost. A lot. More than Toronto can afford. Keep David Ayers in mind.

  9. The Leafs need a rebuild! You are never winning anything with a team full of small children! These guys have ZERO interest in competing the way you have to in the playoffs to win, no even worse, they are NOT capable of playing the type of game that wins in the playoffs.

  10. Not sure why you are saying Markstrom is such a horrible goalie. Last year he had issues, year before he was finalist for the Vezina. This year he has been playing great. He has 2 more years after this which is more than enough time to groom Woll into a 1a. Boys on Backburner figure if Conroy carried 2.0 mill & a $4.0 mill 1A goalie would be huge to a contender needing a goalie. Markstrom has a NMC but many think once Lindholm is traded, he will have no problem waiving for a contender. Wont be cheap for the Leafs. A true blockbuster would look like Markstrom @ 4.0mill per & Tanev for Samsonov, 2024 1st, Liljegren & either Cowan or Minten. Pretty sure Tanev will extend for Treliving & Markstrom solves your 1A goalie for the next couple years. Kill a few birds with one trade.
