#Notes

* Hey guess what? As it turns out trying before the last few minutes of the 3rd is a good idea!

This is one of the few times this year I’ve been truly disappointed in the team. I mean beating ourselves over and over is just so pathetic. Clearly lacking the winning spirit. The worst thing you can say about a team is to question their will. I don’t know what else you can say when we just continually implode.

honestly in years past is was process over results because a playoff spot was basically a lock. This year we are fighting for a WC spot. We played fine but every mistake we make ends up in our own net. we have 25ish games until the deadline and if this doesn’t turn around we should sell. At least Kucherov got a goal.

  3. BigBuddha15

Soft defense in the second period where the players seem like they don’t know what they’re supposed to do in the defensive scheme, but you can’t win if you can’t score a 5 on 5 goal. Half the time we shoot good chances straight at the goalie and the other half we can’t even get into the zone. Overall we played well against a good team but just got punished for mistakes or lack of composure.

  4. Retropixl

Regression was inevitable, if anything upper management needs to learn from the LA Kings, they went from dogshit to contenders again in less than 3 years.

We had 5 defensemen. Perbix played over 25 minutes. The Jets are a top team with a Vezina goalie at Home. I don’t want to see any manifestos based on that loss please.

They showed heart in what was likely the hardest game of the month on paper. Let’s take that and move on please. Hope we get healthy quickly.

Yeah we are shit right now and no one is doing anything about it.

I’ll be happy if and when I’m proven wrong but this is the same crap they’ve been pulling all year.

  7. Whatever, we’re seldom if ever going to win with 13/5, especially when 4/5 of those defenseman are fucking bums. Our entire right side when healthy is abysmal, Sergachev is terrible, it’s all just in complete shambles. Sheary looking like a complete miss as well, sticking us with so much dead cap. It’s hard to see any type of bright future right now even if we do somehow manage to get Stamkos back on a discount.

This team’s biggest issue is consistency. I never know what to expect on any given game. It feels like flipping a coin on whether or not we’ll win.

  9. HannTwistzz

I once again feel so fucking bad for Kucherov, shame how he might not get recognized for how good of a season he is having because of how we might miss the playoffs

  10. The season is far from over, but this is getting tiring to watch. We’ve gotta find a way to stay competitive in the 2nd. We’re usually solid in the 3rd, so I’ll chalk up tonight as an anomaly. Vasy hasn’t been the same, but he’s usually not this boneheaded. The problem is our stars aren’t producing beyond the obvious guy, and our supporting cast stinks. There’s no one to look to for goal scoring with consistency

Gotta be honest, we got outcoached in this game. I understand Winnipeg is one of the top teams in the league, but I just don’t see a team that was substantially more talented than this Lightning team. They just play good, structurally sound hockey especially in their own zone and we do not.

This is a really poorly coached hockey team. I get we’ve lost a lot of pieces and depth, but I just see a lot of really bad habits and poor fundamentals. And a lot of it is from the stars. We have improved somewhat in our own zone since the start of the season, but the breakouts, the lazy cross ice passes, the turnovers, the lack of battle level in 50-50 situations have been a problem for over a year now and I don’t see any improvement. They often play pretty well over the course of an entire game but there’s always a couple mind numbing, inexcusable turnovers that lead to goals that are just killers on a nightly basis.

I have been really hesitant to say this but I think this team might actually benefit from a coaching change. Don’t get me wrong, I love Coop and I think he’s the best coach in the league. I also recognize that he’s not an Xs and Os guy and that a lot of these structural issues likely stem from the assistants. But he’s been here for a long, long time and this team has now looked stale for almost an entire calendar year. We look to me like that Boston team in the last year under Cassidy. Like a team in need of a shakeup. In the end, a split ended up working out for the best for both parties. I don’t expect it to happen this season but if/when this team doesn’t make the playoffs, I really think something significant needs to change whether it’s from the coaching side or the core. If it isn’t the whole staff, at a bare minimum, Cooper needs to change out his assistants.

  12. It’s wild how bad this team would be without kucherov

  13. Kuch got two points and we lost on the road again.

And guess what! We get to play in Minnesota where we really suck.

    Then Boston!

This might be the beginning of the end this year if we don’t win one of these three games.

  14. GeetarMan9

My mindset is we are still not even at halfway in the season. Just still believe in our boys even though it’s tough to watch right now

  15. Chad2Badd

JBB has been exposed the last few years. He isn’t capable of retooling. This season could prove to be quite the waste if they miss playoffs and don’t get the added benefit of decent draft picks..

  16. CruelRuin

team just needs more good players. turns out losing guys like palat, killorn, gourde, coleman, tyjo, goodrow, and colton for essentially nothing takes a toll on the offense. i mean we got like kuch’s line and almost no offensive consistency from the bottom 9. just not gonna cut it. oh and all those guys were pretty decent defensively and some were elite. but those guys are expensive. i bet if you compared the final contract tb had all those guys at and compared it to their subsequent contract tb probably paid like $20m less aggregate.

i love guys like eyssy but palat/killorn/gourde had 50 point capability, coleman had 20 goal capability…which second tier forward has that? just hagel, right? much has been made of the team in the dzone but it sure as hell doesn’t help when kuch is like the only guy that can consistently create offense 5v5

    >cooper says playoffs start now

    >loses first of probably 4 games in a row
