    Pride night’s = allowed

    Pride tape = “not” allowed

    Nhl logic

Edit. Yes I know they unbanned it. I pointed out as much further on in the comments on this. But I’m putting it here because aparently ~~reading is hard~~ this post blew the fuck up and didn’t realize there were hundreds of comments.

Allowed to have Pride Night but not allowed to wear Pride jerseys because how dare we make people feel welcome in the hockey community when there are players who might be offended.

The NHL is run by a bunch of rich out of touch white dudes. It’s why the sport is so irrelevant, never trendy, and never big in pop culture. The game is branded just horribly boring.

  4. They can’t wear Pride jerseys in warmup, or any way that forces a player to wear them. They had banned Pride tape, but rolled that back.

  5. You can have whatever night you want, you just can’t wear themed warmup jerseys

  6. alexsharke

It’s illegal straight to jail for the Flames

  7. thunderedbird

That logo looks unreal! Too bad there won’t be jerseys.

  8. Longshanks123

Wonder if the premier will wade into this one

  9. Oil_slick941611

The special nights were never cancelled. What was prohibited was the wearing of the special warm up jerseys in the warm ups.

It would be nice if they would sell some more merch with this logo art on it this year. I want a hat and/or T-shirt.

As much as it pains me to say it…. **Connor McDavid did the right thing** by putting pride tape on his stick during that warm up in New Jersey.

Bettmann is catering to the lowest common denominator by banning theme nights.

Please don’t lynch me for giving McDavid some props!

They can have the special nights, they just can’t wear the jersey in warmup. I dunno what the league thinks they are doing but whatever it is it sucks.

This thread popped up in my feed and I am really warm inside reading the comments. I’m a Canucks fan. I’ve never ever been called more homophobic slurs than when wearing my Canucks jersey on the Red Mile, and this thread has reminded me that my experience is a tiny loud minority. Not the average Flames fan.

Maybe it’s more of the hotel room sexcapades they don’t want exposed

  15. Heavy_Mental76

Jets fan here, the comments I’m seeing here are why there are events like these.

  16. swagginpoon

Honestly great question. Id say kadri gets 5 games for this.

  17. toastyboi666

They can still do all these special days and have the jerseys but they aren’t allowed to wear the jerseys on the ice

  18. DaxLightstryker

I think It’s up to each player if they want to participate.

    Gay woman here….

I’m gay and it’s incidental. I understand how much representation matters, but I also believe that we shouldn’t make a big deal about things that shouldn’t be a big deal. Who I am attracted to should be nobody’s business and honestly, nobody should care.

I support players right not to wear the jerseys or the tape. If I don’t support Israel, why should I be forced to participate in wearing a Star of David? If I don’t support Hamas, why should I be forced to support it? What if I’m Russian and afraid of repercussions from my country? What if is my deeply held beliefs (Muslim, Christian, Orthodox Judiasm) that homosexuality is a sin?

It should be 100% up to the players if they wish to participate in such things. Forcing people to participate in things like Pride is only going to make 2SLBGTQI+ people look like assholes. Look at the divide it causes. If McDavid came out as trans, McDavid would still be best player in the world. If Crosby was gay, that wouldn’t change his game.

I’m fairly certain that a few of the women who are pro or on world/Olympic teams are openly gay and they don’t get much flack for it.

Everybody on both sides of Pride need to chill.

I think it’s just they aren’t doing pride jerseys anymore ? Who knows the nhl doesn’t even know their own rules

To many of the people commenting here. If you can’t watch the game without being bothered by a flag then don’t watch it. I cant see how it ruins the game for you.

  22. I realize that the rainbow has been adopted and made the icon for much of the LGBTQ+ community, but at its base I really feel like it’s purpose was to be accepting and welcoming of EVERYONE.

It’s ridiculous that it’s such a problem for some folks. We’re all on the same planet and it’s almost literally on fire and acceptance of other humans that might be different is the sticking point for them.

  23. LaGrossePlotte

The whole “let’s make people welcomed by pointing out they’re different” is just so weird to me.

If the same scenario was about bald people, i would never dare take my hat off. I wouldn’t want to feel like people are forced to accept me because of societal pressure.
