  1. Had to free up cap space to sign Dubois to a contract for a big raise. Gavrikov as well. Would love them to pick up a scoring winger, but as much as I like Pietrangalo, they have Jones & Werenski….scoring up front is needed as a priority. Savard is way underrated and should stay. I can see Korpisalo trades, he is great don’t get me wrong, but they don’t want lose him or Elvis to Seattle next year for nothing! Not sure I’m sold on Linae, but it would be very intriguing…. Tofoli would be good & help bring some more physical presence as well after Anderson departed for Domi….The Bruins are INSANE if they let Krug walk, but not sure it’s a primary need for Columbus…only so many spots on PP for these talent D-men….GO JACKETS!!!

  2. Hot Take: they sign both Hall and Pietrangelo just to hold the contracts hostage and trade them off to the highest bidders.

Tomorrow throughout the afternoon Kekalainen will just be sitting in on a big zoom chat going "Treliving, you want Hall right? Think he'll be a nice addition, right? Hand over Gaudreau! Don't take too long to think about it, or I'm going to move onto Chevy!"

  3. I don't see them targeting a big name free agent. PLD is likely gonna get half of their current cap space. But maybe they do target a Hall or something. Their top 4 D looks really. I can't see them targeting Krug or Pietrangelo though.

  4. They are going after Hall and I could not be happier, there have been whispers about Hall landing on Long Island which gave me nightmares, now I can sleep better…Thanx Jarmo!

  5. They have 14million in cap space but they have to sign Pierre-Luc Dubois and Vlad Gravikov which will be around 9-11 million total plus Texier and Foudy add another 900k each and your left with 1-3 million in cap space. Now can you buyout or bury Dubinsky 5 million and if so the a Taylor Hall type player is possible.

  6. Ryan Murray being worth a 5th round pick makes me feel a slight consolation as an Oilers fan regarding the Yakupov situation. 2012 draft was cheeks

  7. They still have to resign Pierre Luc Dubois who will likely see a contract in the 5.5-7 mill range. I also think they MIGHT be operating at a lesser cap than they have in the past due to COVID. They may very well be going after Taylor Hall…but I don't see them making a huge splash with multiple top-end free agents.

  8. Like Gudbranson it's a trade for a bottom-four pairing D for one year at a high cap hit so a nothing more than a fifth seems reasonable. They'll be on and of these teams in the blink of an eye

  9. Wow, I knew the guy was an injury magnet, but a 5th was seriously the best they could get for him? Poor Murray; gotta suck when you learn you're that worthless.

But in other news, yeah, something smells in the city of Columbus. They already had plenty of cap space to work with as it was, and now they're going out of their way to free up more. Sure, a lot of it's probably going to go towards Dubois's renewal, but even after that there should be a lot of wiggle room. Something tells me they're about to make a move for the superstar forward they've been desperately needing, and if they can get one without decimating their blue line or their net, the Jackets are gonna be nigh unstoppable come next season. Next few days should be veeeeeeedy interesting.

  10. I am worried this is just a straight cost saving move caused by revenue shortfall from the pandemic. The city renegotiated the arena contract in2012 because of how bad it was working for the Jackets. In normal times the new deal works, is it still the case with the pandemic? Hockey takes in so much less TV money compare to the other 3 major sports.

  11. Maybe Tyler Johnson or Alex Kilorn? There was a report of Johnson going to Edmonton but they couldn't make it work, and I'm pretty sure they are going to have to get rid of more than one guy

  12. I get that Murray didn't live up to the 2nd overall pick expectations… but a 5TH ROUND PICK??? Dude wtf??

  13. Columbus has to save money for Dubois and they might be one of those teams that's trying to cut costs right? Not saying they won't sign someone but I doubt any big names will be signing. The GM said himself they wouldn't be chasing big names in free agency.

  14. Murray was my favorite blue jacket though, my only hope is that he doesn't sign an extension and makes his way back to Columbus after next year

  15. I could see Pietrangelo goin to the Blue Jackets. Kinda funny that Pietrangelo would go from a Blue to a Blue Jacket if that's the case.

  16. Under Torts the Jackets have only lost in the playoffs to the eventual Stanley Cup Champ.. PIT, BOS, WAS, TB… weird
