Feel like they’re in a good spot like you know I’d like to use Amari Cooper I don’t know that he’s in a good spot this week the Thursday game notwithstanding which you know I try to avoid like the plague if at all possible um and you

Can’t always but you know will he get sauce I don’t know evidence to the contrary is there is no saucing ofari Cooper uh watching him play with Joe Flaco willing to put it on stain on his shoulder pad I believe I thought that was going to uh mostly I

Mean he’ll catch anything they throw to him in whatever Ty however tight the window is so but I mean if you have a player that’s risen up to that level of play and you’ve got Stefan Diggs I mean there comes a point where the only thing we’re playing is the emotional

Investment that we made when we drafted Stefan Diggs and and part of that is you know the the history of Stefan Diggs most notably working with Josh Allen which mostly has been fantastic uh it just hasn’t for nine games so you know it’s the same thing with you know

With with Patrick Mahomes I mean any of these premium players who have been coming up short it’s the fomo that crushes us right the fear of missing out the the the notion that we’re not going to play this Superstar player who we know is going to rebound we know it and

Right when we sit him and so when he does Rebound we’ve talked ourselves into the the self- punishment that’s going to go with it look you got to make the smart decisions and right now Stefan digs is not a super smart decision right just based on recent production and the

Trend the way this offense is working um you know I don’t know that New England is gonna scare me off him I don’t you know I mean you know it’s not like a so daunting a matchup that I would say I can’t play him it’s not like he’s going

Up against s Garder here um or another one of the shutdown Corners so so like I mean it’s here’s the here’s what you do you open up the range of the window to the the players that you’re willing to St if I’m deciding between puka AA or

Maybe a better one one of the San Francisco wide receivers going up against Washington and you know a super plus matchup and I I’ve come to that level of I mean those are going to be easier decisions for me right based on the last nine weeks I mean it’s more

Than a trend it’s a thing okay Le let’s let’s take some stands all right do it we’d already before we came in we mentioned the name George Pickins if the choice is George Pickins or Stefan digs assuming Mason Rudolph starting picking over Diggs yeah I think so I I I think so

Look I’m GNA tell Myatt yeah I mean I like I could tell so here’s the thing in three weeks nobody’s gonna remember whether you lost the championship they’re only gonna remember if you win right right so if you can win if you feel okay like going down in flames

Know there’s more there more meat on that phone but but sometimes not right like Josh dos apparently has an expiration date he comes in and maybe that’s why we’re finding out that like okay Nick Mullen were’re seeing a similar thing I mean so um so do I believe in Mason Rudolph probably enough

To play Pickins in this one I mean I I might look at my lineup on this one if I’m making this decision I don’t want to vasate I want to make a hard and fast decision but if you’re looking at your lineup and you’re saying well I just

Need to avoid a zero right I’m probably gonna play digs if I need to avoid the zero but if I need anything like up to the 20 point range I’m gonna go picket for sure yeah I think that uh I’m gonna go Pickins over Diggs and I think that overall I’m gonna

Tell folks if you are setting your lineup and you’ve checked the checks you know you want in and then you have another Flex or wide receiver spot and you’re not automatically putting Diggs in like if you look at other names you’re not like digs stands out it’s

Digs I don’t love it if you don’t if you have another name and we’re g to talk about a few of those other names I’m gonna say break ties against Diggs and like you said the Patriots don’t scare us and and that’s almost bad in a way

Because the Patriots are not going to force the bills out of the shell on offense that they have been in which is not a bad thing going into the playoffs if their running game has been well oiled and their offensive linemen have gotten some bones throw their way

Getting to tee off and run block more than pass block and run around and try to help Josh Allen that’s gonna help the team’s overall fortunes even if it doesn’t help Stefan Diggs I mean I’m not gonna go as far to say Gabe Davis is a better play than Stefan Diggs not but

But Bob if someone came to me and said I’m gonna start Gabe Davis over Stefon digs am I crazy I don’t think that’s crazy at this point I think it’s unwise but it’s it’s not crazy I mean but you know it’s it’s the up so with Gabe Davis

You have the up and down with with Diggs you have not a lot of UPS right I mean that’s that’s the thing it’s a little more of a swing for the fence play uh and last week you know he hit this big swing uh can he do it two weeks in a row

That he’s done that so sometimes this year like this year there was a portion a stretch of the Season where I thought man Davis has turned the corner and then he turned it again and went the other way and he went back to being the

Zero game right so you know but he’s a he’s a huge hit or missplay but I think when you hit the title game I mean I think these decisions for me are a little easier there is no next week right so so I’m probably a little more

Open to it this week definitely not crazy and definitely gonna see how my roster looks comparative compared to my opponent but just that we’re I mean I don’t know Bob I’ll pull number like there’s like a 30% chance Davis will be a better play than Diggs

And if way better yeah he’ll be like double points right 30% kind of multiplied so you start to do the math and the the scales are kind of even um okay Nico Collins assuming CJ Stout’s gonna start Nico Collins or or Stefan dicks Nico Collins yeah right no no

Assuming St right is Tennessee assuming Straw’s out there and like almost even if they cobbled it together with Case Keenum uh Davis Mills Davis Mills and I think it would probably be Mills I I might go that way either way um Calvin Ridley or Stefon Diggs doesn’t matter

Who the quarterback is maybe maybe not so I think where we’re at with Ridley is everything has to go his way right if he’s getting the fortuitous targets he might or might not catch them in the end zone um I probably play the upside on that one if I needed an upside

Play I’d go Ridley Z flowers or Stefan Diggs against Miami might need to score a little bit I’m kind of a flowers guy me too I’m probably leaning that way a little bit I think that flowers over and just a little bit of flowers talk specifically I think he is somebody you should

Definitely try to get in your lineup because I’m expecting that is the that him he and Isaiah likely I think Isaiah likele is gonna win some titles for folks lost KT and hawis I think think and and Lamar Jackson’s always been better attacking the middle of the field

Anyway as a passer you avoid Howard you avoid Ramsay you do a lot of high percentage run after catch targets I feel like it’s a z flowers week ensuring then that he will have one catch for five yards well I look I want to play you know the anticipated volume I mean I

Digs because he can’t hit a 100 yards why are we not playing Flaco because he hits 300 yards every damn time he steps on the field just about has great weapons I get it it’s a super tough matchup so but but I honestly I trust Flaco more than I trust Fields right now

Okay so let’s what about a similar play what if your choices are Justin fields or Kyler Murray against Philly uh it’d be Justin fields in this case Kyler Murray doesn’t have enough he well I’m saying that’s about a guy named Justin Fields who has Darnell Mooney and a beat

Up Cole K or or not um I’m going to maybe wait let this one play out and see what the receiving cores look like um it’s obviously super favorable match up for the receiving Assets in Arizona except the receiving Assets in Arizona do nothing for Kyler Murray unless their

Name is Trey McBride it’s it’s minimal I mean you know Greg dorch is turning back into a thing as we you know the human dorch down the stretch is lit um but beyond that I mean if there is no Marquees Brown you know I liked Michael

Wilson a lot earlier this year he’s like evaporated coming back from the injury we haven’t seen him do anything and and as favorable as this matchup is I’d probably fade it if there if I don’t get a Hollywood brown or and even that that I might be like I wouldn’t feel great

About it well that’s the thing right and and I and I’m gonna go ahead and and unpack what you said and say that it makes sense to say no to Kyler Murray over Justin Fields because of Supporting Cast because Kyler Murray has not had a big rushing game yet this year no

Because Kyler Murray is not the same kind of explosive run Runner that he was before his injury he probably will be again next year whereas Justin fields we saw some designed runs last week that he was ripping off 30 and 40 yard runs on and we know that defenses have a lot of

Trouble with Justin Fields they’re not having any trouble with Kyler Murray lately no and there is a scenario where Kyler Murray gets in a shootout with Jaylen Herz but that would require Arizona’s offense to play better I me I want to say that it has since Kyler Murray has returned that’s true it’s

Like you know is can Trey McBride and James Conor carry this passing attack Connor we haven’t seen a lot of evidence of that you know I mean like he’s super capable I’m like I’ve been really impressed with what Conor’s done as a runner you know week in week out I mean

I think it’s not sexy and people don’t have a good impression of it but he hasn’t done much as a receiver it’s been the Trey McBride show and uh and I don’t know that he can single-handedly uh pull this off a good matchup though it is I’d

What does that mean for Kyler Murray’s future maybe they do although boy he hasn’t really looked that good in this Drew petting offense it doesn’t seem like the Drew petting offense is tailored at all to Kyler Murray and it doesn’t seem like Kyler Murray is changing this is exactly what happened

With Russell Wilson and Shawn Payton right so may maybe maybe they view this as maybe they view it as like again this is something we as fantasy managers need to to keep in mind because I often don’t is you know we see Sunday we see a narrow sliver of what’s going on so

We’re not there day today they’re seeing things in the building that we’re not seeing and I’m guessing it it seems like they’re pleased with the progress he’s making in this offense remember he’s been you know the he’s been in a different offense that total you know wideopen offense since he was in

High school right so this is a different kind of offense and maybe maybe they’re happy with what they’re seeing of him and his progress and practice more so than we’re seeing in the games and they realize that the limited receiving core is hurting him and other things are hurting

And maybe you know this is a progression and they’re married to him they want to you know he’s got a lot of money due to him maybe the ownership comes into play there I’m guessing yes uh you know so so I think you know this I have a tendency and I think we

All do as fantasy maners to boil everything down to a single variable nothing is ever everything is multivariable right so you know you try to keep that in mind and so I I think there’s a lot going on here that we’re not seeing and the fact that he’s

Staying on the field though I think is like a pretty good litmus test for how they view him going forward yeah or you would hope so if their if their actions are consistent with their intentions it should mean that which isn’t always the case right no no um let’s talk about a

Less bust risk than a field uh my only fear is with Aaron Jones feeling it now and knowing Matt laflor that is unless unless whoever plays quarterback for Minnesota is effective Matt leer would probably be satisfied running the ball 35 times in this game and throwing the

Inclined to be at the very least some of the names we’ve talked about you know he and Justin Fields have similar outlooks right where if they only have 10 or 12 points you’ll say we should have seen it coming if they have 30 points we say should have seen it coming

Touchdown throws four or five touchdown passes and you know I I I like Jared Goff about as much as anybody we’ve talked about so far it’s inside so he can fool himself into thinking it’s home yeah exactly and and just a gambling defense like Dallas I mean Miami didn’t

Get a lot of chances but you really saw that if Dallas’s cornerbacks have to cover after like the three count right it can be problems and you can have some big plays and Ben Johnson strikes me as the kind of offensive mind this is a big

Game Detroit still has a chance to win the number one seed these teams may play again in three weeks or so uh and Ben Johnson strikes me as a guy that is gonna find some things to exploit in Dallas’s defense and you really saw uh I think there’s the one jayen Wadd play

How much trouble those Dallas Corners have covering downfield and I have a feeling Detroit’s gonna find a way to exploit that um last quarup we got to talk about and I my decision with this guy is that that hard probably not that hard because my other options are like Easton stick or Kyler

Murray but what do we do with Brock pie this week Bob because I mean the matchup and you talk about context and convergence and hey San Francisco has to win out they face the Rams next week now this game they can win maybe without Brock pie throwing

The ball that often and he only throws the ball at 25 times a game anyway but it’s why Washington everything’s going to work against Washington but he also has had multiple Stingers now in the last two weeks two weeks and why did the San Francisco playoff Run Stop last year

Because Brock pie couldn’t throw the ball um let’s assume that we know he’s playing I just I have this horrible pit and look I’m not gonna start Kyler Murray over him I’m not going to start e and stick over him but I just have this pit in my stomach of

Players who are injured by the way I’m just seeing Mike McDaniel saying Jaylen Wadd sprain not severe okay well maybe there’s another one sure I mean and even if Wadd is just a decoy you almost sitation you almost hope in this situation Bob thatn they just rule P out yeah

Make the decision for you right this this is all this is the right answer so many times let somebody else Save Me From Myself right i’ have a I I have a hard time not playing that offense if I have opportunity to and I do think like if

You’re playing the pury part you’re liable to get you know touchdowns from super great plays by the receivers even if Brock P’s not and I include Christian mcaffrey and that um even if Brock P isn’t necessarily on point even if he’s just like game managing his way through

It I’m perfectly fine with that um and I do think this is a super I would have a hard time sitting pretty in this matchup unless I you know I’ll be watching I’d be watching practice reports very closely right seeing what he’s doing how much work he’s doing I do think you know

The you know there’s nothing you can do if someone gets hurt in the game you can’t fix that uh so you have to have a lot of confidence going in it reminds me something Mike McDaniel says a lot I’ve heard him multiple times this year if he

Right I think Deon Singletary is almost a fantasy running back one because the Texans have finally come to their senses yeah as long as the offense is on schedule with CJ stra back more likely to be on schedule gives him plenty of opportunities so that one’s pretty easy

Now one of the other names I mentioned was Joe Mixon Joe Mixon or Tony Pard with the Jake Browning like you talked about those backup quarterbacks the cracks start to show after a few weeks it it’s a this is a little close to me I I I’m not huge on on Mixon I

Think Chase Brown’s cutting into you know like capping C is a limiting factor that said Tony Pard is his own limiting factor I want to go back and maybe the offense is as well I want to go back to something that uh Michael galkin was

Telling me about you know he’d done a a bit of a study about how often uh and I think this was probably through about week 10 and PD’s come on a little bit since then but through week 10 he had gone he had only hit like 19 miles an

Hour on like 1% 1.7% of his runs whereas in past years it’s been closer to 4 percent like they’re we’re not seeing the big breakway plays right he’s not getting those same opportunities and it’s probably pretty obviously an adjustment to his role and what they’re

Asking him to do and so I think it’s a great offense I don’t think it’s a great offense for Tony Pard no and that whole thing boy oh boy the next time that we say as I was just saying Deon single deserves more work the next time we say

A part-time running back who has high efficiency in big plays deserves more work and we’ll take him in the first round of fantasy drafts I mean this is Tony Pard Tony Pard 2023 for Fantasy Football is one that we’re gonna compare other Seasons to as a cautionary tale right right well

Into the future because we’ve seen I mean Kevin Barlo was that the guy back in the day Bob Kevin gets his chance but uh so we it took a while for one that was that uh just resounding saying hey maybe there’s a reason this guy didn’t get the chance

Even though that’s all we want okay let’s uh turn to tight end really quick if somebody says should I play Travis Kelce or are you saying stop no or you saying or who well I’m probably I probably want to hear it out probably want to hear it out right now and uh

Yeah I want to hear it out I want to hear who who the who is okay well let’s talk about some who’s then um Travis Kelce or Trey McBride I might play Trey McBride yeah I mean I actually think that one is a little bit easier I think it is that’s

Matchup volume I think and if and again if you’re doing the and we’re divorcing on name from the recent numbers we’re not necessarily divorcing our name from the history of Travis Kelce but we are looking at not strictly Travis Kel stats but just he doesn’t look like an

Impact right some of this like like I talked a little bit about Amari Cooper going against s Gardner I mean watching Amari Cooper play he is super good right like so and we talk about the the matchup the opposing s Gardner’s killing everybody okay but did you see what

Amari Cooper how he’s playing I mean he’s he’s maybe it’s s Gardner that should be worried about Amari Cooper right so and I mean you know however you you know and however it plays out it plays out but I think in Kelsey’s case I don’t feel like you know there’s I don’t

Feel like he’s that guy that’s like playing that lights out football that we’ve seen in the past it’s not the same Travis Kelce we’ve come to know and love it’s not the same Patrick Mahomes either no it’s not they’re getting frustrated it’s really interesting to see Patrick Mahomes get like truly showing his

Better and uh and you know the trajectory and the and the arc and the trend in your life is is positive as you’ve gotten older but I think it is a good holiday that to me stands for pausing and contemplating the passage of time contemplating the passage of time

In your life um not taking any day for granted we’re really good at that down in New Orleans and just just taking a moment to Revel in you’re alive and it is now and you are here and this is happening because we don’t take enough

Time to do that I think when you uh hit your 60s uh events like there will be things that happen you know almost on a weekly basis that have you more mindful of that right right like the older you get the more things circumstances that surround

You change and and in ways that are really impactful that you say oh wow yeah I’m finite I need to I need to you know continue doing some good things and you know I I do think it’s not just New Years that does that for me anymore like

I mean I think in the past I have been kind of like all right new chapter another fresh start and part of that is because the the the regular football season ends right around then and you get a chance to you know slow down and think I mean the the hardest thing about

Football season for me is is like it’s a race every minute of every day right and so it’s not until it’s over that I get to slow down and think about me and that’s like why I love coming on like the couch or my radio show information’s

Coming in at such a rate and I’m processing it out that it isn’t until I sit down and talk about it with Sig or with Mike Dempsey on the SiriusXM show or whoever uh you know when I sit down and pause and stuff that I actually process that information and make heads

Or Tales of it I think it’s the same for the season you know the bigger picture version of this is you know what like the thing I love to do at the end of the season I’ve already started doing it is write down the who you know who failed

Everybody who who who exceeded expectations and how am I going to leverage that to maximize values on draft day uh in 2024 of August of 2024 that’s that’s the first that’s the starting point every year and it’s fun to kind of like look back at the season

And and look at your rankings and see where you had people when you started out and where they ended up and how you ranked them weekly all that kind of go back and and you know hold yourself a little accountable uh for your you know your shortfalls and uh and you know take

Small little Victory laps for your uh for your wins I’m looking at you jir Gibbs love you man oh yeah oh what a breathtaking player uh first round pick next year easy uh uh and I think that you’ve set out a beautiful New Year’s ritual as we’re sweating out our teams

Our restock talking our Dynasty benches yes is is to look back and when you look back and you take inventory you take stock of how things went versus what you expected don’t just look at the beginning and end point but consider the journey because many players during the

Season made the pro side and the con side look part smart even the specific reasons CED within the season both sides are Vindicated uh and and then also consider how um how things ended up in terms of the preseason discussion because you mentioned Jerome Ford or the

Inseason discussion you know I I thought I was reflecting on it this morning that when Jerome Ford took over and then Kareem hunt was signed a few days later and there was one faction saying it’s no big deal and if he if they weren’t retaining Kareem hunt he’s not going to

Be a factor he’s just there for insurance and there’s another faction saying this is bad they were right it was bad I mean Jerome Ford’s ended up being a player you could really ask Jerome Ford to play much better than he has but count either so I like to do it

As an exercise Bob as which information really ended up being operative right and predictive in the end yeah because in the journey we consider everything I mean that’s that’s our job but I love that adding the New Year’s Eve ritual reflection and the last thing I’ll add

Um on that is anytime I have a team that wins a championship and maybe I’ll have I I don’t know not I think one only one of my three I was looking at it I was like yeah only one of these three really has legs but if they do actually win the

Championship I look at each player in my championship line up and I just reverse engine how did I get that player yep did I draft him did I trade for him did I pick him up why how was I even drawn to that why did I start them this week I

Want to say that uh in all those I mean I think there’s a Common Thread in most of those for me uh I think three out of the four is Christian mcaffrey uh you know and and why people didn’t take him with the first pick overall

Uh you know is how I got number one next year gun to your head Bob oh yeah right now you don’t even have to put the gun to my head I I went back and I read what I wrote about him heading into this season and I just tweak the numbers and

It’s the same story right it’s the same exact thing and so um yeah I think I’ll be fine with him but that’s the thing I think I what is the other one like the king’s classic I love that you know there’s I’m in too many leagues and so I

Don’t pay attention to all of them to the degree I should um but the Kings classic is one I do and like I’m miserably just like I think last place in the in the snake draft but I’m like looks like I have a chance I’m in the championship to defend my auction title

Uh which is uh I mean you know those are leagues that where you’re playing with guys that you’re competing with and you’re working arounds every day so I do love that one but uh but but yeah I I do I go back I’ve been doing that you know

As I’ve been setting my lineups is how did I get here why is this guy like becoming piece of my and why did I draft him and when did I draft him and has he overcome something or you know all those things I’m doing all that it’s we always learn and we always
