Are The Caunucks Going All-In This Year? | Halford & Brough

Halford & Brough, along with producers A-Dog & Laddie wonder if the Canucks might go all-in this year at the trade deadline to prep for a deep playoff run, what with President Jim Rutherford’s history of success in doing so, and the team performing much better than expected.

  1. completely off on this one, its not just one year, the 4 million the cap goes up doesn't cover the raises, everything said here is wrong. wow

  2. Rutherford already said on several outlets, including most recently Bob McCown, that their success doesn't change their long term plan toward winning a Stanley Cup.

  3. The Short Answer, No.
The ownership's goal is to fill seats, not to win the championship. They have never shown that they are willing to trade any valuable future pieces away to make them a Stanley Cup competitor, this, or any other year. If the Canucks win the cup, it will have more to do with their luck of who they face round by round, other team's injuries, and top notch goaltending.
The Oddsmakers seem to know this, but very few people here in Vancouver seem to recognize this.

  4. I dont think this year would. be the canucks only best chance considering how much weaker the western conference is compared to the East and it doesn't look as though that will change much over the next 2-3 seasons. Salary Cap will go up, as long as you make smart signings and trades without overextending you give yourself the best chance to compete

  5. Make minor adjustments without giving up too much and swing for the fences, you never know💁 A deep run will set the Canucks up for years to come.

  6. canucks right now have a decent enough prospect pool with 3 players on team sweden that I wouldnt be apposed to trading this years first for a better winger to play on miller's or pettersons line or a better bottom 6 deffenman
