  1. To be fair…Korpisalo's playing behind a terrible defense, with even the most veteran players looking lost, in Ottawa. Columbus had the Babcock situation less than a month before the season started.
The PLD situation in LA is intriguing…not only is he not performing as expected, he's the only player on the Kings' roster with a negative plus/minus rating.

  2. Split the stats up a bit. It was a bit hard making out the numbers for the players with the bold font imo.

  3. At this point it's well known Pierre Luc Dubois is a pilon. Crazy anyone would sign him. He literally quit on two teams back to back.

  4. As a Winnipeg jets fan I’d like to commend Chevy for fleecing the kings..enjoy the 40 games a season where pld will try..that guy has quit every team he’s been on since junior

  5. One bad risk signing/off-season take that wasn't mentioned was the 1 year Ilya Samsonov contract made through arbitration with the Leafs. I only say this, because before Sammy was brought down to the Marlies and Dennis Hildeby called up, the Leafs were only around 60k below the salary cap. Imagine if they went a different route other than the unproven Samsonov who only had 1 good year which could have been an outliar? What if they need that cap space come trade deadline kinda like when they did the Ryan O'Reilly deal at last year's deadline… I feel they could have gone with Woll as the starter or at least 1a (proven enough) and Jones as vackup or 1b (still serviceable at bare minimum/good tending…), then have Keith Petruzelli as their 3rd string goalie/Dennis Hildeby depending on his development curve with the Marlies, and then even so, you still got Dylan MacKay, Abhramov (currently in KHL, but the Leafs have his rights. His plan, last reported, was to come to N.A. next year.) as well as you have 1 or 2 other tenders in development. So you weren't short on them in the first place… And yes, I'm a leafs fan… Say what you will, lol…

  6. Korpi is hardly the problem. Ottawa is doing absolutely nothing infront of him. Every goalie gets smoked in ottawa these days

  7. Vilardi had a stretch where he had 5 goals and 5 assists in 5 games played.
Outside of that, he's been on par with where he was on the Kings.
The fact both guys have just two points in the five games since that streak shows just how inconsistent BOTH Vilardi and PLD can be.
    Is one more notably underperforming?
Yeah, but that will always be the case.
People still compare Gaudreau and Tkachuk and Huberdeau and that will never change.
The key in this situation though?
Vilardi WASN'T playing at this level with LA, and even with Dubois (and without Vilardi), they're still in a pretty comfortable playoff position.
It's not like they went from a decent team to absolute trash.
But that's what trades and signings does: shows how some players play better on different teams.
Some players play better with different systems.
And some players just play better with different coaches.
More than regret, I guarantee LA is pissed Vilardi wasn't playing as well during his hot streaks as he did with them.
But here's another thing to remind everyone of:
Hot players that are notoriously streaky can go cold as ice in the playoffs too.
When you're, you know, trying to win against the best teams, and not just racking up points against bottom feeders like San Jose, Anaheim, and Chicago 🤷

  8. The biggest mistake Edmonton made was at game 9 Connor brown had zero points and they should of cut ties then , 9 game sample size was clearly enough to show he's currently not the player he was before the injuries .

  9. PLD is just going to remain the whiney malcontent guy he has always been. next year it'll look even worse.

  10. I think the move that’s aged the least is the Blackhawks doing barely anything in free agency, and not signing a center because they expected Reichel to be a reliable center for them. The team is hopeless outside of bedard, and the lack of reinforcements and support for him is embarrassing

  11. Kings trade let them make space for more Byfield minutes. Sometimes moving a vet out of the way to play a prospect has different motives

  12. That Connor Brown one is just terrible. Idk what Oiler management was thinking on thag one. In what world did he deserve that bonus? Ridiculous.

  13. It's amazing when GMs pull moves like this. Poll the fans and 90% say no to Reaves at any money (let's be real he has sucked for 3 years now) and would point out that Pierre Luv Dubois hasn't actually done anything anywhere.

  14. Laine and Dubois seem to always have good & bad seasons at the same time.
I wonder if they're somehow cosmically linked

  15. The Reaves deal isnt bad if you factor in his cap hit is almost completely able to be swallowed by the AHL next season. He could have been a great 4th liner and still could be. But his cap hit is buryable
