If you could do it again, would you trade Rasmus Sandin for Erik Gustafson, Easton Cowan, and a first round win?

It’s a hard one for me. On one hand, Gustafson wasn’t exactly useful for us and I have no doubt Sandin would have helped more for the playoffs last year.

And on the other hand Cowan is apparently a hell of a prospect. Looked excellent in pre-season.

Obviously it worked out better for us because of Cowan, but saying I would have made the trade is very retrospective. We had no idea we would get a player like Cowan from the draft.

I don’t think winning in the first round was predicated on this trade lol. It’s not like Gustafsson really played. Having a guy who can advance the puck like Sandin would’ve helped win a second round.

I didn’t think sandin was worth a first but I also dont like trading sandin based on the current crop of d free agents.

Yes and then I’d resign Gustafson instead of signing klingberg

Yes for Cowan alone it would be worth it. The first round win was priceless. If any team and fanbase needed that it was the Leafs.

It’s not like that trade guaranteed the first round win so don’t know why that is implied in the question. Gus barely played.

I would rather have kept Sandin to have this year. Too early to tell how Cowan will turn out. We are in win now mode and need defense.

  7. Nope. My mind won’t change until Cowan proves himself an actual NHL asset.

I’d take the 2nd round pick instead of Gustafson as had been reported as an alternate

    No.

I like Cowan a lot but we could very much use Sandin rn.

I’d be more than happy to lose Cowan if it meant we got Sandin back.
