Highlights from the article:
“Xhekaj will enter Friday night’s game in Utica on a four-game point streak and has eight points in 10 AHL games. But more than that, it is his mobility and ability to drive offence that has caught coach Jean-François Houle’s eye.”
Some quotes from Houle:
“His wrist shot is elite, and for a big man, he can move. The Canadiens got lucky. That kid’s a first-rounder”
“We had (Justin) Barron here, and he’s just as good as Barron…I think he might even have more offensive skill than Barron”
Mailloux:
“He helps simplify the game. I feel like we’ve been good reading off each other, we communicate well, we’ve both been playing hard,”
Xhekaj:
“I just look at it like, if they’re telling me that I’m a part of their future and I’m going to be a part of what they’re trying to build here, if I need time down here to work on it, I’m just going to do it. That’s how I look at it.”

He should be on the Habs. He’s better than Baron and Harris imo. Plus he’s a presence that keeps other players in line.

I still think Matheson, Ghule, Xhekaj are our 3 LD going forward…but Struble is making an awfully good impression…
What are we gonna do?

I’m pretty sure the habs realized he’s way more than just fists, they even bumped him to PP2 near the end. I think sent him down to play big minutes, quarterback a bit and keep the kids safe.
I have a feeling he’s a huge part of the future plans.

I’m seeing a lot of rumours on trash FB Habs groups about St Louis and Arber being at odds. Is this true?

Call him up and put him in as a forward now that dvo is going to IR

I have loved this kid from day 1, and I am SO glad to see him treating this as an opportunity, not a punishment. I hope he makes it back into rotation before I see them in March!

X is also RFA this summer. If he’s playing less NHL games, they may be able to offer him a cheaper bridge contract.
