Good play by Hartman, except he should have hit him a little harder and taken some teeth out. If Dillon didn’t cheap shot and injure Wilds young superstar this would not have happened. It’s a two way street buddy, now your young star will get the same treatment
The wild are a bottom tier team this year, the fans having hot take spazz outs is expexted but the "professional commentators" is even more entertaining as a Jets fan.
It's a cold butt hurt winter in Minnesota this year. 😂
This rivalry goes back to last year when the jets basically ended Kaprizov’s season. Next do a video about how there’s no place in the game for intent to injury crosschecks in the back on star players
This guy talking is just as stupid as some of the wild fans😂
When a dirty play causes injury without punishment then it is not archaic to administer retribution. This is a sissy take. You're choice of commentators says a lot about you too lol
I’m a wild fan and a ref, and Hartman pisses me off. He’s dirty and needs to go. With his history, this should’ve been a suspension for at least a game
That’s not a hockey play…wanna send a message, drop gloves with the guy responsible!
Jamal Mayer was a fringe player and is pretty much a fringe analyst.
So a high stick to the mouth sends a message? It was a wise move? Hartman has Perfetti in his backpocket?
What an idiotic take!
Hartman's a dirty player, so apperantly he likes sending messages.
The media does have a voice , but to say something like this is actual strategy? Reckless, stupid and quite narrow-minded.
Dillon should have gotten a one year suspension, Hartman was just teaching his team a lesson since the refs wouldn't do it
Am I the only who is thinking maybe they should have some protection there 🤔
They dont allow this in the NFL cause they value their stars… and they're not Neanderthals.
Totally agree. Physical play is one thing. So is fighting. Cheap shots, though, like what happened to both Kaprizov and Perfetti, don't belong in the game at all.
You completely contradicted your entire video in the last 10 seconds.
Bro the wild just lost their top player for weeks and Dillon fighting (which is what he always does) wont solve anything because he will be right out there the next shift after his 5 min penalty is over while kaprizov wont. Jamal has a point and Bieska would of said the same thing as Mayers man. The problem is the LEAGUE!!! It is run by a bunch of hippies not doing their job to protect the players and this is causing players to take matters into their own hands which is not a good thing. If the league is not going to police the actions of some then the players will have to and that's why Hartman did that. I would of preferred a different target than Perfetti though if that is what Hartman planed to do. It's plain and simple. TNT is garbage man, ratings are sooo down.
I'm not a fan of either team. That was a super soft cross check by Dillon.
Watched this panel live and was preparing for the most boring intermission, but man did jennifer botterill kill it. Love the debate and she was absolutely right and made this man look like a fool.
I'm sorry but Hartman deserved at least a 10 game suspension on top of that cheesy fine under 5k. (Probably carries more cash in his pocket). As a Jets fan, Kaprizov being out does suck big-time, but I've seen hundreds of those checks in the corner. I'm sure Dillon didn't have intentions to injure, but Hartman came out a told Perfetti who was wearing a Mic, he meant to hurt him. So hurting a player with the intent on cutting his face, mouth and losing teeth is okay? A small fine is BS and the Jets didn't retaliate when Connor was knocked out for that knee on knee that could have ended his career.
Mayers is the only person on that panel worth listening to. If Winterpeg is going after Minnys stars then Minny will go after Winterpegs stars. It's that simple, doesn't matter what the talking heads say.
I hate how a guy can dish out a cheap shot and then wear his helmet and visor in the ensuing fight. After the other guy bloodies his hands hitting the helmet and visor, the cheap shot guy is no worse off after a 5 minute rest in the penalty box.
Totally nailed your take here, thanks for covering this stupidity from Jamaal… Clearly a double standard he wouldnt apply to "his own team" – legit referenced the wild as "his guys" (implying against "jens guys", the jets.) Such a dumb biased take from him, almost a little surprised it came on tv, and not online somewhere… But then again, its SN, so shouldnt be surprised at all…
Damn the people in this comment section probably has never watched hockey in the 90s lol
There are so many takes that can be made here. First of all, in MY opinion, hockey is the greatest game on earth. It is also the only game where the players police the game if the ref's let things get out of hand…or in this case, actions like the crosschecks to Kaprisov go unpunished. Old school hockey has a tough guy fight a tough guy (Middleton vs Dillon) to settle things down. Next game off the opening draw, Maroon vs Lowry. That should be the end of it. However, last year the Jets knocked Kaprisov out for an extended length of time when 6'7" Logan Stanley fell awkwardly on top of Kaprisov. Many feel it was a targeted hit. Now, Dillon takes liberties with Kaprisov knocking him out for another lengthy absence. This is the Wild's best player and one of the superstars in the league. If the ref's aren't going to punish these guys, it's going to continue happening. Hence, Hartmann with the dirty stick job on Perfetti. I'm not saying that was the right thing to do, but if one team has a history of taking out another team's superstar, that team is going to go after your superstar. If you want to clean up the game, penalize every cross check that is ever delivered. Eventually, people will quit crosschecking. Also, penalize every hit from behind. Eventually, they will stop checking from behind. Call all of the slashes too, not just the flagrant ones. Eventually we will be paying big money to watch 20-30 year old men playing squirt hockey.
The Wild are cheap and dirty. And then play victim when their superstar who’s soft gets hurt on a cross check that wasn’t even that hard. They deserve to be out of the playoffs.
Hartrman should injure Scheifele or Hellebuyck. The Wilds best player Kaprizov producing point-per-game on this "bad" season. If it was Crosby or McDavid or even Bedard everyone would scream to suspend dillon for th rest of his life
Watch the game 10 seconds before the Dillon crosscheck. You will see why Dillon was upset with Kaprizov.
those two commentators need to be booted from the tv broadcasts.
Have you ever played hockey Dan?
What!!.. no mention of how Hartman put Ehlers out last for the rest of the season and playoffs with a dirty reverse body check when he didnt have the puck? Hartmans's a good example of being too stupid to learn how to play hockey the right way. Why didn't he stick Lowry in faceoff dot? He kows he would've been beaten to a pulp. They sent 3 guys out to get revenge after 2 guys who werent even involved in the play…Classy Minny
Hartman is and has always been cheap.
Disgusting! Another male hockey dinosaur supporting cheap and dirty play. Officials and the so called Department of Player Safety need to step up. I know officiating is tough, and seeing everything is impossible. The DOPS has no such excuse as they have the benefit of hindsight and video. They are abysmally incompetent and uncaring.
These things are part of hockey, it all works out in the end and people need to get over it. It’s not going to change.
Jets are rats. They got what was coming. Jennifer Botterill should go womansplain the PWHL, thats something she would understand. And what is up with all these nasally effeminate hockey youtubers whining about this?
The issue is many of the rules of the game aren't called. There is often so many cross checks and slashes that go uncalled so once in a while someone gets injured by one. Cross checking is illegal. As soon as the first one was done, it should have been called a penalty immediately. It would take a bit for players to adjust, but if those types of infractions were called consistently, it would clean the game up with the cheap garbage that happens all the time.
Dillon’s repeated cross checks at an area he KNOWS FULL WELL is unprotected is cheap and dirty. “ Prefetti is a young talented promising player . How dare you do that to him“. Nobody says the same about Kaprizov. But it is the same. The refs do nothing. The league does nothing. This broke Kaprizov’s ribs! And NOTHING is done about it. If Wild players do nothing about it, what would every other team do? Nothing? Yeah, right. None of this should happen. All of this sucks but, it wouldn’t be like this if the refs and the league do the right thing for the sport and for the human beings that make this league what it is. It’s a damn disgrace.
if anyone knows what goes on in the fo circle is jamal. and lets be fair, isn't kirill a young upcoming star? going after cole makes perfect sense for that reason right there. it's hockey ffs. self policing works and this is why we need goons.
I’m going to put a fine point on this discussion by posing a question: What if Perfetti had lost an eye? And that’s not a stretch. Right there, Perfetti’s career is over and Hartmann is both unemployed and undergoing the same legal issues Todd Bertuzzi and Marty McSorley had to go through. And we’re talking about a couple of inches difference for that to happen. The fact he chose to deliberately injure is one thing, but the way he chose to do it shows a complete lack of thought process.
Jamal Mayers is exactly the type of person we have currently running DoPS…a "goon's perspective". Of course this guy is gonna cheerlead a bloothbath. And so does the DoPS.
This is why dirty plays only get fines or are simply ignored.
Take another look at the video, Dillon did not cross check Kaprisov where there was no padding. He pushed off along the top of the waist where there is padding, which is a legal hockey play in the NHL (but not in most minor leagues). Players are coached to push off in this way. The fact that Kaprisov fell awkwardly is unfortunate but is no different than an injury on ANY OTHER LEGAL CHECK.
Hartman, other the other hard, is not man enough to play the game correctly but instead has targeted the 2 smallest players on the Jets over the past few games. Someone needs to deal with him but I feel the Jets have more important things to worry about than this man-child.
Seems as though none of you have ever played.
If you are a goon and stick my star player and injure him, do you think im going to fight you? Nope. Im sticking your star player in retaliation. Dillon wont learn any other way.
I’m totally on the side of the take. Terrible play but I think it needed to happen. Jets have gotten away with ALOT against wild in the last two years. I’m almost certain at least one of the two injuries on KAP were on purpose both near season ending injuries. All Cole got was a stitch on the lip. He’s lucky his not in a wheelchair.
So, by that logic, when they play them tonight The Jets should be able to destroy any random player on the a Ducks for Strome's attempt to end Conners career Good to know. I can't believe that dill hole sits on a hockey panel!
Great clip and even better incite. Well done dude
I notice you Jets fans seem to forget that this is the second time in a year Dillon has blatantly hurt Kaprizov. On dirty plays and yall are ok with this not a mention of that. Not to Mention here is the highsticking rule. (Note) High Sticking is the action where a player carries the stick above the normal height of the opponent’s shoulders and makes contact with the opponent. A player must be accountable for being in control of their stick at all times. note above the shoulders his stick never went that high
