  1. Canes news- Martin Necas collided with Orlov behind the net. He was slow to get up and left the ice in obvious discomfort. RBA said he was feeling better in an interview after practice. Noesen did not practice due to illness. Aho was not injured in the Ranger game. He had limited ice time with about 6 minutes left in the 3rd period. An insider said with the game out of reach for the Rangers some things were said from the Rangers bench and had taken a run at Aho. The coaching staff felt there was no need to risk any injury to Aho in a game they had control of. Fast is still in protocol.

  2. Hello Shannon ! With Adan Hill out and Logan Thompson not 100 % recovery the Vegas team is giving up 2 goals more every game . Won't change until both are 100 % again . Maybe wise to rest Thompson for 10 games . We remain .

  3. I'm really hopeful for Vrana. I saw his numbers at the AHL and they were good, so he's putting in the effort. That coupled with the new coach for the Blues … maybe his mojo returns and he opens up the Blues ability to score. Losing Faulk though, that's going to hurt (which puts even more pressure on the forwards to both score and be more responsible defensively).

  4. I haven’t really been depressed during the holidays but I know it’s a thing. My mom told me a teacher I had in middle school 6-7 years ago took his own life less than a week before Christmas. I was never really close to him but it still broke my heart to hear that.

  5. Two serious incidents involving Cousins. Both times the other players ended up suspended. Nothing to Cousins. Parros is a joke.

  6. On jersey news, it seems that the Lightning will have a new black alternate jersey. Would love to hear your thoughts about it. I like it more than the storm one, but it’s rather bland.

  7. Maybe the NHLPA should announce a program to help players seriously injured by other players first.

  8. People always talk about mental health like it's something that should be dealt with when you have a problem and it should be but also it's ok to new learn mental health skills when you're well. You exercise and take vitamins when you're healthy. Learning mental health tools is the same thing. Taking care of yourself doesn't have to only start when you're sick.

  9. Kylington was out for mental health reasons as well. I'm glad he was able to work through it and he had the support of the Flames the entire way. I'm glad the NHL is taking steps towards helping players with it as well.

  10. 6:26 Zucker should have told Cousins (into a microphone somewhere) that he was going to board him. Missed opportunity…

4:32 SOLID play by Ingram. This could go a very long way towards helping so many players reach out for help when they need it. Takes a really strong spirit to do that.

8:18 I had never even heard of him until his little tiff with Hoglander a couple years ago. Ever since then Forbort has been a big baby in my books. Couldn't handle lil' ol Hoglander throwing a solid hit (welcome to hockey, Fart Bot) so he had to repeatedly cross check him until he finally drilled Hoglander to the ice, then later in the game goes after Hoglander again. Weak. Canucks DID rally around Hogs on that second incident, but good thing for Forbort that this was a Canucks team that didn't have the toughness they have now, or Forbort would have to file a hurt feelings report.

  11. im really glad that mental health care is slowly becoming more and more discussed in the NHL and other sports. I've been dealing with mental health issues basically my entire life and have been in therapy on and off since 13, and it was hard enough even WITH support. I can't imagine dealing with that alone while your life and performance is under a microscope. I hope players keep getting the help they need and keep working to destigmatize mental health care for men (and everyone obvs, but we all know that mental health stuff is treated differently in men)

  12. Important issue. The mental health field could improve a great deal if their medication side effects didn't include possible psychotic break. So many direct that side effect to themselves and suicide. Hats off to those who improve out of their conditions.

  13. While mental health is being discussed.. I'm not a shill for big business but sometimes they also do some good things. The upcoming Bell Let's Talk Day this year is January 24th and people might want to support this, as it's an initiative to change how mental illness is perceived, discussed, and treated.

  14. So happy for Ingram, good things are happening in Arizona lately. I’ve followed this team through so much garbage. Gotta admit, being a coyotes fan is feeling good these days.

  15. Over 11 thousand people have taken themselves out THIS year. It will be Jan 5th tomorrow, let that sink in. Take care of yourselves people, stay safe out there. ✌️

  16. Zucker suspension: Maurice stated (on Florida Hockey Now) that Cousins is in the concussion protocol. It would seem like some sort of suspension would be warranted. Looking at Cousins initial hit, from some of the camera angles, it looks like he just grazed the Arizona player, BUT the Arizona guy was down on his knees. I am sure from where Zucker was, it looked like Cousins boarded his teammate. You could argue either side.

  17. It kinda bugs me that LA loses Toby I have a lot of respect for McLellan but he plays favorites and has made some very questionable personnel decisions in his time with LA

  18. Bjornfot – It always seemed like there was someone who was seen by the LA coaches/GM as a little better than Bjornfot. I think he had his opportunities but just couldn't make it happen for some reason. There was a window, but then LA got Spence, Gavrikov, Englund (a surprise there) and Clarke. Bjornfot was the odd man out. Hate to see him go. I fully expect to see former high draft picks Anderson-Dolan or Turcotte (or both) next out the door. Thanks for the video, THG.

  19. Mental health counselor in training (and of course, hockey fan) here, and I have to say, I am absolutely elated at this mental health initiative undertaken by the NHL, as it increases awareness, positive encouragement, and helps reduce stigma of mental health. Thank you again for your constantly positive messages about mental health, Shannon! Truly, truly thankful!

Side note in case anyone is interested – sunlight has an effect on the brain and its release of serotonin, so seasonal affective disorder is definitely real. If you're struggling, see if you can get more sunlight, don't neglect a balanced diet, and please don't hesitate to reach out for help. There are many of us who would love to help you feel better. Be safe, everyone!!!

  20. Kudos to Ingram for seeking the help he needed, We want to see more Ingrams and less Rypens. My mental health has been better over the past few years (I credit this to being a father now) but I have had my lows, I decided this year I'm going to track that kind of stuff just because I am curious, Even just marking on a scale of 1-10 in a spreadsheet each day should give me more insight into my life over time.

  21. Good to see this mental health option for players!

As someone who has had a lifelong light disorder..can’t help but identify with how diminished sunlight adversely challenges individuals..players indoors especially vulnerable. It is also as much a physiological phenomenon affecting immune system so really vital professional help being made available. 🎯🛣️🏒🥅✅
