No ‘Distinct Kicking Motion’ After New York Rangers Score Goal Off Chris Kreider’s Skate

The New York Rangers had a rare goal review go in their favor as there was ruled to be no ‘distinct kicking motion’ on a goal scored off Chris Kreider’s skate, thanks to Rule 49.2 (iv): “A goal will be allowed when a puck enters the goal after deflecting off an attacking player’s skate or deflects off his skate while he is in the process of stopping.”

  1. It deflected off his skate in the process of stopping. He never swung his leg like he was kicking a soccer ball. The rules are pretty clear.

  2. I guess he’s trying to stop and the puck hit his skate. I’m a Rangers fan and we all expected it to be overturned. He didn’t kick it in like a soccer ball, but it still looked like he turned his skate into the puck. Still…. The Rangers dominated the game.

  3. I'm a British Blackhawks fan and we need something to go our way. We backheel soccer balls too and kick with the side of our foot. He kicked it
