I was out until near the end of the Jets-Ducks game, so I don’t have a lot of notes on the board tonight.

  1. WPG may be different this yr & a serious SC contender . But IMO I think it shows the difference between the WC & the EC. The EC is so much deeper especially the Metro which could produce both W/C teams this yr. The worst teams in the WC are by far worse than CBJ & OTT , although CHI has major injuries to half their lineup of established NHL players & ANA 2 most talented young players have been out as well. SJ is on a whole other level of bad which I don't think is easily explained away.

  2. People saying ‘wrestling is fake’, yet don’t have the same complaint about TV shows, is weird. I must have missed that Game of Thrones’ is a documentary.

  3. I hope the wrestling was a welcome escape from everything else that's going on for you Shannon. Take care

  4. Hey Shannon, I'm glad you had fun tonight (you deserve it) — CHI@NJ was a REAL smackdown.

Bedard only plays 3 minutes TOI and leaves the game after getting hit trying to split the D with his head down. 64 PIMs ensue!

Katchouk gave it to the crowd WWE-style on his shorty to go ahead 2-1 late 2p. The fans didn't like that 😅 but they got the last laugh, there was still 20 minutes left to play. (Tbf – yes, please read in various Letterkenny iterations like I always do – it might've been in response to Holtz's previous goal celebration to tie it. He was trying to get the crowd amped.)

Like others have said, I suggest you watch a replay and flip through it. The SportsNet condensed game DOESN'T include that pivotal hit on Bedard, the retalitory hit on Hischier that caused him to miss time (but he returned unlike 98), or any of the penalties and fights that ensued. Cheers.

  5. Canes finally hitting their stride! When Brind'amour was talking about how the Christmas break was just the opportunity that the team needed to get rested up and reset, I thought it was just typical bs coach speak. Apparently it really was exactly what the team needed, because they've been playing significantly better since coming back from the break. The combo of Svech+Aho+Burns on the PP has been especially deadly here lately 🌀

  6. What a route by the canes. Canes scoring on the powerplay and then the caps throwing a fit slashing bunting to set up another powerplay and goal was just plain fun to watch. Without Fast, Noesen and Necas the boys still found 6 goals. Incredible night.

  7. I don't know how Money Puck calculates their "deserve to win," but it sure as hell didn't tell the whole story in the NJ-CHI game. Chicago is literally an AHL team at this point. They lost both Bedard and Foligno, and yet they still came close to winning that one while down two players. (And, already without nearly their entire veteran forwards corps AND their top d-man.) Their special teams were terrific, and they killed off all 6 penalties against the league's top PP, at least one or two of which were beyond weak calls. Not to mention that they were playing the second game in a back-to-back. They were still in it until almost the end. That win might have put the Devils into a playoffs spot, but I'm holding my breath that they're gong to stay there.

  8. The Caps may be a lottery team by the end of the season. They are old, slow and injury prone. They have made a lot of bad decisions on personnel over the last 5 years. It is catching up to them.

  9. I was at the Devils game, it was an interesting game. Second period was constant fighting, it was awesome. But glad for the dub!

  10. Canes crushed the Rangers in MSG and the Caps in DC in one week. Not bad. Seems like they are finding their swagger again.

  11. As a fellow wrestling fan, fake is hard to hear because the physical abuse the wrestlers go through to entertain people is far from fake. Pre determined, sure, but fake, yeah tell that to the wrestlers who died in the ring or were paralyzed because something went wrong, or the ones that had to call it a career early because of injuries.

  12. LETS GOOOOO GREAT THING TO WAKE UP TO! I seriously can't wait to see what we can do in the playoffs. We are legit. Honestly I don't think I've seen us play this well ever. We are better than 2018. Enjoy this while it lasts.

  13. After the Pens missed out on the playoffs last year I decided before the start of this season that I wanted to start following a team in the West. Decided on the Jets and I’m so happy to see them doing so well.

  14. Tough night for the Caps. I think any talk of playoffs is now in the rear view mirror. Loss to Canes was a brutal collapse. You could hear it Carbery’s voice after the game – he was deflated, depressed and out of explanations. Time to retool and prepare to fight another day. Onwards!

  15. nothing on the Bedard hit and chaos that ensued? Brendan Smith being the most wanted man in chicago for the last decade now? sheeesh

  16. Thank you for admitting wrestling is staged. Ive always called it a live stunt show. It still takes athleticism and can be dangerous if the moves arent done correctly.

  17. I think many folks forgot just how dominant Svechnicov was…. no coincidence that the Canes hit another gear when he got back… Gotta feeling we will be talking about them around the 3 slots in the power board pretty soon….especially since Kotchetcov is proving to be solid… Don't sleep on the Canes!

And Shannon didn't mention the real action in the Chicago-Jersey game….the bad blood was really flowing when Bedard took a nasty hit….then all kinds of cheap shots ensued…wow, welcome to the NHL Mr Bedard!

  18. I hope the Jets win the cup so that Trouba, Copp, Wheeler, Marurice and Dubois all can’t have sex for a few weeks.

  19. Dang Shannon, you missed an entertaining game with NJ and Ch. A hockey game broke out during the fight in the 2nd period. Smith became a folk hero tonight, and almost coined a new "Brendon Smith Hat trick" after almost taking 3 guys out in 1 game. Bedard learned a hard lesson, Jack hurt himself again, and Vitek is still trash.

  20. The Winnipeg Jets are first overall in the NHL. Heads in Laffs Nation must be exploding and we can all look forward to the glut of posts from them claiming the Jets were outshot or that they can't fill their arena during home games. You know…relevant stuff.
