I never want to hear anyone ask if Monty is 1A quality again. Ever. What a fucking machine.

Win against the best team in the league. Most exciting game of the season. THIS is Habs hockey. So proud of the effort tonight.

    OLEEEEE! OLEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

  2. TripleWDot

Monty!! So so clutch this season, love to see it.

  3. eskimobootycall

That might have been the nicest shootout save I have ever seen.

  4. HurinGaldorson

It’s as we all expected. We beat Dallas, got crushed by Buffalo, then beat the Rangers.

  5. bcgrappler

    Monty owns the Habs crease.

That was his game, that’s a statement.

  6. RoboticAnatomy

    WHAT A FECKIN SAVE MONTY!!!!!!!!!

(Is true for the end of OT and the Rags 2nd shootout attempt!)

    Well deserved 1st star Monty!!!!!

  7. I seriously don’t care if we win or we lose. I’ve been getting my happiness by the young guy results.

I’m quite mad Slaf didn’t play the OT

    Monty une machine mon homme

    GG

Edit : I know he played guys lol. MSL put him on the ice when we didnt have the puck and went thru his bench.

What a fucking incredible win. Exactly what the boys needed after the loss the other night. Insane game across every inch of the ice.

  9. Sportsguy1223

Slaf got 20 seconds of OT and immediately helped stop a goal and drew a penalty

  10. Montembeault was very good, and I was really happy with Slafs game. Would’ve liked to see him earlier in OT.

Wasn’t a big fan of Caufield or Matheson tonight. Haven’t watched too many games this year so I hope this was just an off game for them. Team needs to be tougher in the D zone as well

  11. Monty is our number one, it’s time to start treating him like one.

  12. xXxWeAreTheEndxXx

    Samuel “literally Carey Price” Montembeault

  13. >Montembault is the #1 goalie in Montreal

ALWAYS HAS BEEN BABY POUR ME UP

  14. RoboticAnatomy

Excellent play by Slaf at the end of OT there to negate the icing, win the puck battle AND draw a penalty!

  15. Le save sur Zibanejad était débile, j’en reviens pas!

  16. Good thing we got Pricembeault under contract when we did.

Glad to see some of the supporting cast (plus chief trade deadline asset Monahan) get on the board. Not really the top line’s strongest game, but having noted that Slafkovsky’s one-timer is a work in progress, it was noticeably better here, even if Quick saved it. He was also good in his brief shift in OT, hopefully St-Louis uses him more there.

  17. thebriss22

Yeah the three goalie rotation kinda needs to stop now lol Monty is clearly the number one and Primeau is second

  18. --JULLZ--

Good win, but Slaf playing like 10 seconds in OT is so so wack especially when Evans and Anderson are playing…

  19. Amazing! I can’t handle this team.

Feels like a hot chick that’s flaking on me every second date

    *GOOD*

    – Well that was a thoroughly entertaining game in which your Montreal Canadiens get the two points.

    – Monty. What a game and that shootout attempt where he says basically no you don’t was slick. I don’t mean to be a dick and make a gotcha moment out of it but I just can’t fathom how some, not all, were advocating trading this guy for a draft pick. He is legit future #1 imo at least.

    – They got up 3 on a very good rangers team. Some will think of the comeback from NYR but the Habs came to play. Getting that 3rd is always super important.

    – I think with a bit better luck this would have been dusted earlier.

    – I am loving the whole Jake Evans elevated role. Dvorak being out not to speak ill of the injured is not really a bad thing as Evans gets more minutes.

    – Just the overall team game. You could tell the guys and the staff really wanted it and they got it. Team effort.

    – Slafkovsky as usual. Ho-hum.

    – Pezzetta was absolutely banging around.

    – Armia.

    *BAD*

    – I thought Guhle had a bit of a tough night. Turned around a few times and some penalties. Keep in mind those are pretty tough assignments that is a good team NYR. A young d struggling isn’t the end of the world.

    – Momentum shifts again… As soon as NYR got 1 you kinda expected the next. It would be sick, in a perfect world, if it became 3-1 and Habs were able to re establish that 3 goal lead.

    – Caufield excellent shootout goal. But just needed to hit the net a little more. He isn’t alone here just what comes to mind. Habs had a few glorious chances to end it but could not seem to find the finish.

  21. backwardzhatz

Not Monty’s first Price-esque performance and won’t be the last. Can’t say if he’ll be the guy for the long haul but for the near future this dude ***is*** our goaltender and we are a far better team when he’s in the net.

Also somebody please get that shootout save clip up on r/hockey
