The Canadiens scored three consecutive goals in front of their home crowd but the Rangers were able to stage a comeback. Trocheck, Panarin, and Fox would score before the end of regulation to send the game to overtime and then to a shootout. Cole Caufield would be the only player to score in the shootout giving Montreal the win and the Rangers would settle for a hard fought point.
