**Montembault** – CHI, MIN^, CBJ, VGK^, STL^, TBL^, BOS^, CGY, ANA, CBJ, SEA^, LAK^, PIT^, NYI^, MIN^, DAL^, NYR^ – *9-5-3 with 12/17 starts vs teams with >0.500 pts%(won 4)*
**Allen** – TOR^, WSH^, BUF, WPG^, ARI, TBL^, VAN^, BOS^, LAK^*, DET^, NSH^, WPG^, FLA^, BUF – *4-8-2 with 11/14 starts vs teams with >0.500 pts%(won 3), and 1 game that was the second of b2b, lost*
**Primeau** – NJ^*, DET^, VGK^, SJS, FLA^*, BUF, CHI*, CAR^ – *4-4-0 with 5/8 starts vs teams with >0.500 pts%(won 1), and 3 games that were the second of b2b, winning 1*
^ – over 0.500 * – second of b2b
there are only 7 teams with less than 0.500 pts%, with us and MIN sitting at 0.500. Basically anyone below this is a legit weak team.
Montembault has had the slightly easier schedule between him and Allen, with ~30% of his starts against these weak teams, vs 20% for Allen(37.5% for Primeau). That said, he has managed to get 5/5 Ws vs those teams whereas Allen has only managed 1/3. Primeau is also 3/3 vs sub 0.500 teams. Monty also has 0 starts on the second night of back-to-back games.
not trying to take anything away from Snacks, hes been dynamite! Just a bit of context as Leclerc seems to gloss over this with his F1 analogy of comparing goalies who play behind the same defence, which completely disregards strength of schedule.
getting the Ws vs weak teams is just as important as any others, sometimes giving up those points vs teams you shouldn’t can kill your playoff hopes in the end(not that this is a real concern for us right now).
While I would certainly say that Monty is the better goalie between him and Allen, but I would also be asking what the team is or is not doing in front of Allen in some of these games.
