Why did Cutter Gauthier not want to play for the Flyers?

TSN Hockey insider Pierre LeBrun joins SC with Jay Onrait to discuss the Flyers acquiring defenceman Jamie Drysdale and a 2025 second-round draft pick in exchange for forward prospect Cutter Gauthier, and the reasoning as to why Gauthier refused to play in Philadelphia.

  1. That’s crazy, I was literally googling him after the world juniors wishing he was in the ducks.

Unfortunate the price was as high as it was though…

  2. Ego & entitlement thru the roof on this kid. Wouldn't even speak to Briere or Jones. Immaturity at its finest. good riddance.

  3. This time last year, Gauthier only wanted to do 1 year at Boston College & come directly to the Flyers. Briere thought otherwise, that a second year in college & an international tournament would be in Gauthier's best development. So no contract was offered. Gauthier got a case of sour grapes against the Flyers' organization. From what I saw in the World Tournament, Briere might have been right. But the kid already burnt that bridge by demanding his way out of Philly.

  4. Man. Was so excited for this dude to be a Flyer. Whatever. Clearly quite the ego/attitude. Welcome aboard Drysdale! D looking really good moving forward.

  5. That kid is gotta be a terrible character. Imagine not answering to the team that drafted you. This is a spoilt brat move, they should be glad, to be rid of this guy.

  6. can’t help but wonder what he’ll have to say on all this. philly right now is DEDICATED with the hating and oh boy, he’s gonna experience that and then some

  7. Hope Cutter finds the situation he is looking for. But real bad move for the kid to straight up dodge your GM trying to talk to you. I'd seriously be worried about the kids maturity and ability to handle himself when things don't go his way in Anaheim.

  8. Imagine not even talking to or meeting the team that drafted you before playing a second in the NHL? What an entitled brat. Briere even flew to Sweden to meet him. His parents wouldn't even meet. Understandable not wanting to play for a team, but to just ghost them? Kid has issues.

  9. As a Ducks fan I think both teams made out really well with this deal. Centers and D are positions of strength for Anaheim, so we dealt from our plethora of blue liners to land a winger, a position of weakness organizationally. Philly wanted and needed a RHD so I think this move could be the perfect fresh start for Drysdale where he doesn't have to worry about Zellweger, Mintyukov or Luneau coming for his spot. Jamie also helps the Flyers both now and in the future. Wishing him the best and can't wait for Cutter!

  10. Totally has nothing to do with Tortorella being a toxic neanderthal who can't develop youth, and despises the new era of elite talent.

  11. Kevin Hayes, albeit a slower developing NCAA player, didn’t want to sign with the Blackhawks after Stan Bowman told him to go back to university for his senior year, Bowman trades his brother Jimmy to the Panthers that year, and Kevin tells the Blackhawks to fuck off and runs out the clock to sign with the Rangers. Underrated Bowman fuck-up that may have cost the Blackhawks a Cup in 2014, 2016, and/or 2017.

  12. Anaheim is lingering in the basement so far this year….well they have Spring Training and the Angels to look forward to…oh wait…😂😂😂
