I think all the injury woes mean we shouldn’t overpay for a goalie at the deadline. There will be more players available at lower cost in the offseason.
The focus should be on a depth defenseman and a depth forward.

mrazek or kahkonen . shouldn’t do anything crazy . the cost is gonna be too much since every team knows they need a goalie . same goes for d , maybe a lyubuskin/seeler . lower cost/cap hit . doug will be back . nemo has claimed a spot . think they need to find a center if anything . they do not have center depth . mercer ? better at wing . haula ? better at wing . lazar ? better at wing . so who’s it gonna be ? maybe lindholm’s the better target in calgary ? cause you trade for hanafin or markstrom gonna cost you then their salaries . i think the off season you can find something . smart move is to not rush into a big move in season. again every team is gonna ask a premium . the little deal should also be a wing and would be better for it .

I’ve kinda come with terms with this season being kinda just mid. Our window has just opened, we’re still building a Cup contending team. Think we gotta think about the long term big picture here. Don’t rush anyone, make sure our guys are all healthy, and I think just making the playoffs will be a success.

This season is mid. Maybe we make the playoffs, but it’s very shortsighted to make any big moves based on this year’s injuries / player performance just to “salvage” this single season. There’s a long term goal and the window is open for at least 5-7 years. Cap and remaining term of our core is highly favorable. Don’t mortgage the remaining cap space or trade untested prospects just to save this unfortunate but understandable regression of a season. Let the young guys deal with the adversity and league scrutiny. It will make them stronger as they mature.

I had a feeling that separated shoulder popped out again the way he went down with his stick underneath himself. I’m sure he can rehab it but he’s likely gonna need surgery when the season is over.
That’s a top 6 line and top pairing on 2/3 of the teams in the league and a top PK & faceoff specialist. Thank GOD we’re deep at forward because this is ridiculous.
