Blues Trade Fabbri to Red Wings for de La Rose

Yep, it is being reported as a one for one deal. I think it is a trade that makes sense for both sides.

  1. Fabbri just didnt fit in StL. Hes got a ring and can say he's a champion. Now he can go to a team where he can easily build a nice spot for himself. I think this is more of a win for Fabbri than a win for Detroit.

  2. Fabbri hasnt been the same since he hurt his knee the first time. He asked for a trade last summer, and he wasnt a guy that Berube was impressed with.

  3. It's a win-win for both. Fabbri, g-d bless him, has had two MAJOR knee operations. His speed is almost back to baseline, but his scoring touch has not. I think he's guarded making jitterbug moves – which I can understand. The guy the Blues are getting we shall call Maroon, Jr. No, he's not the second coming but he's a big body and can step in if someone is injured.

    Again, a win-win.

  4. What Yzerman is doing with the extremely limited resources he has, is simply amazing. Perlini and Fabbri could both turn out to be great. They might not, obviously, but Yzerman is taking little to no risk, and in return he is obtaining guys with potential. He gives this team a chance in the future and it is up to the players to meet their potential. Loving it!

  5. I like it. Quick question: How many goals did De La Rose have for Detroit? Lastly: Isn’t it pronounced “Yahkobe”?

  6. Hopefully this trade works out better than the very expensive Faulk deal….that has been a total bust so far and the Hurricanes made out like a bandit!

  7. Sometimes your bottom lines are more important. Blues win for it fills the void fabbri couldnt. At best he is a 2nd liner. Unless he put up 30 goals.

  8. A bit surprised at trading a skill guy after losing Tarasenko for the season and Steen last night . Haven't seen what his status is.

  9. Fabbri was an exciting player/prospect his first two seasons he was an absolute puck hound never gave up on a play one of those types of guys players on the other team couldn't stand I don't know how many pockets he picked forechecking , he also had speed and skill he really seemed to be a player that was going to be a huge part of the Blues moving forward like I said an exciting player to watch. But much like Eric Johnson after multiple knee surgeries, he has really struggled and just hasn't been the same. His top end speed was a big part of his game and you just wonder will he ever get it back, if he does he will certainly be an exciting player to watch again and definitely has top-six potential. So from St. Louis I say Robbi we cant wait to see you again and hopefully completely healthy and confident in yourself and your abilities I know you can be a really special player, good luck.

  10. Good on the wings and Blues. These are my fav type of trades even over blockbuster ones. It gives both players a chance to find their game in a different environment.

  11. Another thing probably worth noting is that we claimed de la Rose off waivers, so basically we turned a free asset into a former 1st round pick who has a much higher ceiling than de la Rose. The question will be if he can find it, but still overall a great deal for Detroit.

  12. Fabbri looked like he could be a superstar early on, but he was never the same after his season-long injury. I think this is a win/win for both teams. This gives Fabbri a chance to shine with a poor team who has more to gamble, and show what he’s capable of. Blues have enough depth at this point.

Even if Fabbri finds his game and becomes a consistent 30-goal scorer for Detroit, it’s not a loss for the Blues, because he would have never become that with the Blues.

  13. It's a win for fabbri, because he will get top six minutes and a solid spot in the lineup and get things going again. Win for Detroit breathing new life into the team with a good fast skater, that can score and attribute depth and experience, also a player with something to prove. Win for the blues to free ups some cap and letting a play go so that frabbri can have a productive career elsewhere. Also a new look for del la rose in a new system on a new team. Maybe a breath of fresh air and things come easier to him.

  14. Should be a good trade for both. Fabbri should see more ice time and de La Rose has potential to make impact on the fourth line. Great analysis as always!

  15. Loved Fabbs here but he was indeed injury prone. Glad he got 2 goals last night! If he stays healthy and gets stronger. He'll be a stud!! Great pickup Detroit!

  16. No offence to De La Rose but this is one of the more lopsided trades I’ve seen in a loooong time. And yes I understand the Blues wanted to give Fabbri a better opportunity to play but they couldn’t have gotten more in return?

  17. Fabbri had 2 goals tonight in his Detroit debut. We’ll see what he does this year but I’m happy for him

  18. For me this is just a classy move my St. Louis. They get a decent player back, but I think the most important thing they wanted to do was find somewhere Fabbri would get a chance to play good minutes at. Well done.
