Where to Stay

I’m coming in from Detroit for the game on the 20th, but have never stayed in the city. What are some recommendations on places to stay that are in a safe area and won’t completely break the bank!

Hey I see no one has replied so I will give you my thoughts. I have never stayed downtown so other might have better info but I have live in the suburbs most of my life. Personally if you want to stay in the downtown area I might look at the drury Inn union Station. You could walk to the game from there pretty safely. Look into parking costs though. As an alternative I would look at hotels near highway 44 and Hampton Avenue. It’s about 5 to 10 minute drive to the game from there. There’s a few hotels right there that could be options for you and it’s a safe area that’s close. There are other hotels downtown but I would not really recommend walking around downtown at night.

That depends on what you mean by ā€œbreak the bankā€. I like staying at the drury at the arch. They provide breakfast, an evening meal, and managers reception at night. Itā€™s about a mile from the arena, but there is usually a crowd that walks from that area to the arena and back before and after games.

When my family comes to visit me they usually stay in an AirBnb; there are some reasonably priced ones around here. Central West End is a nice, safe area. They also like the Drury chain hotels. I think they serve complementary breakfast. There is one close to the downtown area and one near 64 in the suburbs that is close to a shopping center and a Target.

  4. Drury at Union Station is where I stayed in October for the Pittsburg game. Itā€™s a quick and felt like a relatively safe walk to the game. Itā€™s maybe a 5 minute walk when you cut through Union Station, and thereā€™s some activities there that you can do to kill time.

Plus the hotel had a parking garage onsite. I think was an extra $15?? per night, but considering the other parking options around I was fine with it. They also did have complimentary breakfast and a happy hour with drinks and snacks, if thatā€™s something that interests you.

Union Station, Dury Inn is a little less than the Union Station Hotel itself and itā€™s basically in the same building. Plus itā€™s a quick walk to/from the arena with a ton of fans. Union Station it self is a decent place to hang/kill a little time.

Oyo Hotel is cheap and right across the street from Enterprise.

Slightly longer walk but still super close, Hilton at the Ballpark, Drury at the Arch, and Hyatt Regency are all perfectly good choices and safe walking to/from game.

The Pear Tree Inn on Market is an alternative to Drury. Drury is good, just providing an alternative. Sybergs is a good restaurant at the Pear Tree, and they have a shuttle. Also, Maggie O’Brien’s is a nice bar across the street.
