While I don’t like the outcome, I think this call was probably right; or at least defensible. Norris is allowed to move around the ice, and to get into the path of a forechecking player. Pospisl didn’t appear to change directions, slow down, or stop, and braced to check Norris.
I suspect if Pospisl tried to avoid the collision and still hit him there would be no penalty, but the refs could not let him check a player without the puck.
