‘Jason Polin signed with the Avalanche after a decorated NCAA hockey career as a team captain.

    Sound familiar? It should.

Polin made his NHL debut in Monday night’s [dramatic shootout home win over the Bruins](https://denvergazette.com/sports/colorado-avalanche/avalanche-vs-bruins-3-takeaways-from-colorado-s-home-shootout-win/article_16c27aae-ae96-11ee-ae8a-9b5becfb4674.html). The high volume of ice time for Colorado’s stars didn’t leave much for Polin on the fourth line (4:22). But the 6-foot, 190-pound winger still managed three hits — his specialty.

“I just wanted to calm down and enjoy the moment. All the guys were so welcoming. They made me feel comfortable right away. It really helped me out and calmed my nerves. Just go out, enjoy that lap, and it was an incredible experience,” Polin told The Denver Gazette. “There’s high scoring power on this team. For me, it’s more sticking to my two-way game and playing physical. Just trying to make my presence known doing whatever I can to help the team win.”’
