First Career SHUTOUT for Matt Murray as the Dallas Stars Win in Minnesota AGAIN!

The Dallas Stars and Matt Murray shutout the Minnesota Wild 4-0 last night as special teams and goaltending play key factors in the game. Murray made his first start of the season and had his first career shutout in the NHL! He made 23 saves and picked up a key victory for the Stars who try to keep pace in the Central Division. The Stars played a great game in front of Murray, the went six-for-six on the penalty kill because of great play from Radek Faksa, Sam Steel, Tyler Seguin, Ryan Suter, Jani Hakanpaa and Esa Lindell. They forced Minnesota in to just 11 shots combined in the final two periods to help secure the shutout for the young net minder. Joey then explains how this win could be a formula for winning games without Miro Heiskanen and Jake Oettinger. He explains how the Stars defense kept great gaps with them and opposing forwards forcing the Wild into a lot of turnovers in neutral zone and not allowing them to attack off the rush. Also, winning board battles and making simple plays to get out of their zone and allow themselves to play offense. Minnesota outshot the Stars in the first, but it was not the highest of quality which is a great sign. The show wraps up highlighting Tyler Seguin who is playing his best hockey in probably 5 years. Now with 10 points in his last five games, he’s not only scoring goals, but defending a high level, on the penalty kill and playing a complete game that he has adapted himself too and is a great sign for the 2nd half of his career.

  1. It makes me wonder if Murray gets the home start in the 2nd of the B2B? I highly doubt it given PDB but hey…you could argue for it! Congrats to THE Matt Murray (lol) for his first career shutout..gotta be a great feeling!

  2. This game was more reminiscent of last year‘s style of play. More of a lockdown defense with a quick counterpunch.

Now. Just flip that 10 minute zone time cycle to the end of a game and lock down the leads.

  3. Matt Murray proved he can be a excellent backup goalie when needed. He was what kept the first period 1-0 in favor of the Stars ⭐️. He faced two or three power plays, they hung him out to dry in the first period and he answered the call. Nothing like having to face that in his first game at the NHL level.

  4. Good for the kid. We still need to bring up the two best goal scorers from the minors…..trust me. We also need 1 more nasty D man.
