[Gould] Via AHL Transactions, the Coyotes have reassigned forward Justin Kirkland to Tucson. Jason Zucker will be eligible to return when AZ hosts Calgary tomorrow. For the time being, Dylan Guenther remains in the NHL.

I mean, Guenther is kind of a no brainer. Brought up and puts up goals in back to back games. I’d have been more surprised if he HAD been sent back down. Maybe him and Cooley can start developing some real chemistry. I want to hear, “Cooley to Guenther AND HE SCORESSSSS!” for a long, long time.

As long as Guenther is getting consistent time, this is the best outcome. Hopefully he makes the most of it.

  3. I’ve been paying more attention to how Tourigny deploys lines and it’s pretty interesting.

He tends to keep the wingers together but more random with the centers.

After Zucker’s injury Cooley has been at wing more frequently. Cooley/Guenther as a pairing lets Tourigny deploy them in more protected situations and has really opened up both their games.

With Zucker back I’m interested to see how the pairings go. I’d like to see Cooley Guenther sticking together.

    Keller, Schmaltz

    Maccelli, Crouse

    O’Brien/Carcone, Zucker

    Cooley, Guenther

That leaves either O’Brien or Carcone as the odd-man out and they have earned their roster spot even harder than Cooley or Guenther.

He could move Cooley back to center but then it’s going to be even harder to find the right time to deploy him and it’ll mess with the new confidence he’s getting. Or he could do an old school full line change and keep Zucker, Cooley, Guenther together. But that means even less time on the ice.
