  1. I agree with you here that Bruce's assessment of the situation is off. When I think about why he said this, it occurs to me that a more laissez-fair coach will value any condition that improves his team's confidence. So much of that approach to being good is about players being in the zone, leaning on individual skill, and trying to minimize issues that interfere with performance. Tocchet's method, OTOH, reminds me of the 10-11 Canucks, where every postgame there was a lot of talk about not resting on laurels, continuing to improve, consistency, playing according to the team's system, etc.. That method is what makes teams resilient and consistent.

  2. Healthy Demko all last season and BB might still be our coach. With all due respect, I don't think this group would be where they are now with BB.

That said it was more that just Demko so I agree with you there. Only game I saw live was the second in the RT era, a 6-1 pasting, first loss to the Krak down here in Seattle. Worst Canucks game I've ever seen live in the various arenas I've been in down here in the States (Den, Dal, LA, ANA fwiw).

  3. Seems like an overreaction. He said "might". And being in text, dunno if he was just winking at the time and having a laugh. I'd just call it optimism. Which is nice, but maybe not always realistic

  4. Kind of agree but without a confident, capable goalie most players on ice will try to compensate. Break the system in place by the coach, which leads to total break down. I have been that goalie, by the way. Pretty hard to coach against because it introduces a ton of wild cards. This is one thing i think the Canucks have largely dealt with this year–and that is big time credit to Tocc. And a few other guys who have elevated their game, of course! Not saying that with a healthy Demko the 'Nucks would have been a ton better last year but they would have a much better record.

  5. I like Bruce but if you donā€™t have demko ready to play then prepare your other goalies to step in and help out, putting the blame on demko isnā€™t really fair I mean he can only do so much, as for the team looking lazy yeah I definitely saw that last year, again Bruce as a coach itā€™s your job to fix the problems that are happening and you simply didnā€™t do it

  6. I think we would have ended up trading Boeser if we stayed under Bruce because he couldnā€™t get Boeser feet moving.

  7. BB is great the Vancouver Canucks are doing awesome. But wait till the playoffs start . As long as Gary Bettman is running the show . No Stanley cup in Canada period . And that's the bottom line.

  8. Love toccet love bruce but the teams were totally different the dcore has changed the bottom 6 has 3 new players hogz wasnt ready last year theres a mot of cards Bruce didnt have a bonified backup goalie like give toccet the same team he goes .500 maybe a little higher like wildcard spot imo
