Will the Jet’s reward be a 1st rd matchup against the Oilers? 🤔🤯
Jets are like St Louis a few years back: nasty to play against, good size, good goaltending. Some nice young players. Good team defense and overall balance. Awful team to play in the playoffs. And no one notices them. lol.
Keep beating that drum! We need more pundits around the league to start paying attention!
I’m okay with a maple dunked Stanley Cup Playoff. Toronto @ Winnipeg sounds perfect.
I like the Jets. Great depth, great goaltending, and they are playing very well. The jets are my team and I’m from Calgary. Winnipeg has to be Canada’s team going into the 2024 season/playoffs.
As well as they have been playing lately……I'm not getting ahead of myself thinking they're going to keep it up. They've crashed and burned too many times in the past and though I'm optimistic with the manner in which they play now, the stigma of past seasons still sticks in my craw. All the recent trades and additions have worked out much better than anticipated. Vilardi looks like a winner and Scheifele is actually committed to defence. My fear is when Connor returns from injury as who gets the hook as team chemistry is sooooo important? I recall in years past when the Leafs lost their all-star team captain Mats Sundin for an extended period and the Leafs went on a similar roll. When he returned from injury the Leafs nosedived in the standings. So Connors return isn't a guarantee that the team will continue their current trend. Talk to me in April and in the meantime I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this team can remain resilient when faced with adversity. They have been a fragile team in the past and they haven't proved to me that they are a bonafide contender versus a flash in the pan. Let's just say I'm quietly optimistic about their chances.
Last year they were getting lucky and were highly inconsistent. Their record was good mid season but their play was meh. Players cooled off and they collapsed.
The jets have matured like fine wine, well balanced, they adapt on the fly, don't give up many oddman rushes, stay out of the box, intelligent fundamental hockey at it's best, to top it off you got Hella, I'm a Boston guy and I have to call it what it is, the best hockey team period.
Another thing that nobody is mentioning is how great the schedule has been for the Jets. They had a homestand right before Christmas break and the game where they mopped the floor with the Bruins was 3 days before Christmas. They also have a huge break before the All Star weekend one home game in 4 days before that break. So everything seems to be falling into place for them. It doesn't hurt that they're playing consistently great hockey while KFC is injured, and if one of the forwards gets taken out he's back in the near future to fill that gap.
Hay 🤠Hay @SportsTalkWpg… I'm a Diehard Oilers 🧡💙Fan!!!
I Like the 💙🤍Jets!
Congrats to your "Jets" being #1👍 Team…
This will be all about Goaltending/Defense. Oilers got Skinner🏒🥅 as last Year he was not quite Ready but now he is… You need a Good defense as Oilers defense is almost there.
See you in the Series match up when Oilers will meet the Jets!!! Cup🏆 Run Comin'!!!
Oilers 😜will W–! Good Luck😛 Jets!!!
Jets will have to beat the Canucks to advance to the Stanley Cup Final.
I don't know what team you were watching last year, they did not look good at all getting to that mid season record. It was all luck. They were barely winning those games and looked horrible doing it. This years team is different. They look more like the 2018 team. They are not just winning, they are dominating and beating teams. Last year, the drop off was almost predictable. I don't expect to see one at all this year.
Lack of grit is a problem, and remember Shiff's is always hurt in the first round. They have no answer to the cheap hits.
How many times in the modern era have presidents trophy winners gone on to win the cup?
The Winnipeg Jets should sign Cory Perry.
Just a stanley cup presence is worth it
