Said this in the PGT, but so many clean shots beat him tonight, which I think is a good thing.
He can, and will, adjust to NHL-caliber shot deception and speed.
Not a great first showing. But we all have to be humbled. Hopefully this makes him hungry and he works hard to be better.
The defense did him no favors. However, whether he plays one later this week or waits until next year, it’s time to get back in the AHL and laugh at, “Oh hey. This shit is easy now.”
And then he comes back and Brodin, Spurgeon, and two new callups or maybe a high pick join and go, “Huh. Why aren’t so many shots getting through this time?”
From the interviews I’ve seen, Wallstedt is a confident guy and very driven to win and be successful. He’s admitted he thought he was ready to play in the AHL because he played against men in Sweden, but discovered how tough it was last year. He put in work and had been better in Iowa this year. I’m sure he’s going to take away a lot of things to work on here as well.
