We will see top-line Will Cuylle tonight with Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider, per #NYR coach Peter Laviolette.

Prediction: Nothing will change as long as Mika and Kreider are still together. Does not matter who else you put on that line

  4. It’s a logical temporary choice since he provides quality defense and transition play, which is what Kakko does, and it’s why 20/93/24 worked so well. Vesey would’ve been a good choice for that line too

Happy for Cuylle to get the shot, but doubt his playstyle is what Mika and Kreider need to get them going. They need a playmaker who can open up the ice to set them up for their redirects/one-timers. Mika stopped being able to handle the puck well this season. Just fumbling it way too often, for whatever reason, so someone else needs to take the reigns.

If this combination doesn’t work out, the more I think about it, the more it seems like Cuylle is a better fit for the Panarin Trochek line, and Laf might be a better fit for the top line, since he has been showing more and more signs of being able to handle the puck this year and initiate plays, and dish out assists, while whiffing on a lot of high danger scoring chances in front of the net and not being able to handle crisp passes from Trochek or Panarin in that danger zone.

Meanwhile, Cuylle being more of a net-front finisher would pair well with Tro and Panarin, and he’s been showing that he can finish. His physical play might also make up for the defensive deficiencies of that line <coughPanarincough>.

Rangers using their Cuylle to keep Kakko’s seat warm

Thats a fucking North/South power hockey line!

    >Psyched. I think that line totally needs a banger to disrupt the other team and cause chaos that K/Z can exploit. Cuylle could be our Matthew Tkachuk.

I moved to St. Louis 10 years ago. This is my one game a year I get to go to and the rangers (and Yankees) have absolutely shit the bed against St. Louis the last 4 years they have played here. It would be really nice if the rangers could find their stride tonight and make up for years past.
